Just a suggestion based on another spacey-tradey game that may have a title of a singe letter that might possibly be X...

When docked in the stations in this game, there are what are called "Artificial Life" announcements and things from the station, such as:
  • Would the owner of cargo canister <serial number> please report to customs as some clearance papers are missing.
  • Would the owner of cargo canister <serial number> please report to security. Illegal goods were detected during a routine scan.
  • Sector tour flight ABC123 is now departing from gate 5. Would all passengers please have boarding passes ready.
  • Shuttle service ABC123 to the planets surface has been delayed by poor atmospheric conditions. We apologise for any inconvenience.
  • Attention station maintenance: would an engineer please report to Deck 6 as soon as possible, a vending machine is malfunctioning.
  • Please take care when flying in-system. There has been an increase in local pirate activity.

Those are just examples, and there are other announcements that are made depending on the state of the economy, availability of goods, status of the local government etc. I think this would be a great addition to station life in Elite: Dangerous... Could we have something like in a future patch, Devs?

Agree. Coding effort would be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Please do this Fdev, and take it a step further, make news announcements relative to galactic events, give people an idea of things that are going on.

Other things you might hear:
  • Attention station security: Would a team please report to the bar on Deck 12, a code green is in progress.
  • Attention all pilots: Please hold your current positions. A large ship is in-bound for docking.
  • Attention all pilots: A [system/station]-wide shortage of medical supplies has been reported. A premium will be paid for delivery of these goods.
  • Attention all pilots: Due to a logistical error we have a surplus of hydrogen fuel at this station.
  • Attention all pilots: factions in this system are in a state of civil war. Please take care when travelling between installations.
There's quite a few things that could be given to the player this way, and I think it would add an extra dimension to the universe and make it feel a bit more real. Obviously these are all just my suggestions and there's other things that could be included, and different ways of announcing them depending on factions or superpowers. Some stations (like those in anarchy systems) might not want to warn players about pirate activity, so those announcements might be missing entirely from some stations. Some stations might be eerily silent for reasons of their own...

just to ad, local faction propaganda would really bring the place to life.
the info could be taken from the mission board.
making it directly clear what the station needs or in what situation it is.

Its also about time they inject humor into the game as well :)

Attention the pilot that left his bag in the pilots lounge, would you please come and get her, she getting worried.
Attention the pilot that has parked to close to the maintenance door on landing pad 6, please come and move you ship, the maintenance crew are trying to get out.
Attention the pilot parked on landing pad 7, you left your light on.

And how about on some pasenger misions
Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising speed and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants.

Thank you for flying Business Express. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride.

Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, sure as hell everything has shifted.

In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small child pick your favorite.
