ARX Pre-Built Prices

The release of the new Mandalay standard costs 16,800 ARX (roughly $12.99 USD) that specializes in Exploration. The DBX is priced at 25,500 ARX, as well as other pre-built ships, standard ships are over price. Take the Mandalay standard vs. DBX prebuilt: 16,800 ARX vs. 25,500 ARX? You could put valuation on the DBX FD being engineered, or any pre-built ships having minor engineering applied to some ships, however, Frontier just walked themselves out of the market selling pre-built ships. I understand the Stellar being "premium" ships over the standard versions in ARX cost; however, the DBX, the Type-6, the Python mk2 standard, Vulture, etc. should NEVER be more than 16,800 ARX. Any minor applied engineering to modules is the selling point for them. Why buy a Vulture for 25,500 ARX when the Python mk2 only costs 16,520 ARX (roughly $12.99 USD) which is a better ship?

Should Frontier continue to publish more pre-built ships than I strongly suggest implementing a ARX price ceiling. Lower the ARX cost on those who exceed this ceiling, and focus on the minor applied engineering to modules, as the feature, advantage and benefit point of sale.

You do not have to buy them. I do not have even single type-8 on both of my accounts yet. The only thing from ARX shop right now I would be interested in is a different carrier type and maybe tiny but expensive non-combat ship (grade 0 modules?)- and that means for me something smaller than a fighter.

Value is relative thing. For some new players who have money but either do not have proper knowledge or do not want to put effort into getting one DBX might be tempting. The same goes for Mandalay.

For me paintjobs and shipkits value is really low, after all what's the use for that for someone who can enjoy games in text mode too.

I never really saw the point of the prebuilt DBX. They are so cheap and the rebuy is next to nothing. You save a little time in engineering, I think, but that never justified the cost IMO.

The AX ship is a justifiable purchase to me, purely because of the amount of time you spend at the rebuy screen as you learn AX combat. I don’t think it’s a good build, but the free ship and armour can save a lot of credit grind especially at low levels.

I’ve not even looked at the others. But it’s all to do with what people think is a reasonable amount to spend on them.

It is not the point whether to buy or not to buy. I am suggesting normalization the ARX pricing with a price "cap" ceiling. This will generate more sales and abides by the marketing strategy when stores round product prices down to five. New players coming into Elite Dangerous are more inclined to front $12.99 USD for the ARX to buy a ship than $41.00 USD: Pre-built ships are a luxury commodity. Same with paint schemes, and everything else in the ARX store. I'm trying to suggest is about marketing a great idea that benefits both new and old players.

As players, we should not be gouged on ARX costs, when the final product after purchase decides its actual value to the player e.g. what will the pre-built ship be after the player finishes ALL the engineering blueprints, module upgrades, etc. to suit their playstyle. The ARX price tag is the counterweight on whether they'll complete their project with credits or with ARX.

A less known advantage of the ARX pre-built ships is the immediate deployment. Where you can redeploy it anywhere, anytime whether you sell the ship and reclaim your pre-built ship purchase at another space station anywhere in the galaxy. Swap in or out engineered modules or pre-plan your pinned blueprints and you have an instant ship on demand. No transfer fees or wait times. Hence, cruise the Galaxy, and you have a ship on-demand without the need for a FC.
