We all know ATR and Omnipol use specialized ships with police lights fitted to them...
But why only these ships? Even standard system security ships don't use them. Honestly it feels like a wasted opportunity of a neat visual feature.
I'd happily pay 20k Arx to fit police lights on my bounty hunting corvette.
You could even have alternate variants of only blue, or only yellow lights to fit other roles such as support/rescue and mining respectively (As an example).
And you could toggle them on/off with the regular ship lights.
