As it's Beta time, do you think....

That the legendary galaxy modellers at Frontier (who clearly are up on their galactic discoveries) will be modelling up to date discoveries?

I hope at least Earth will look like earth and our solar system should be hand crafted as well, but this is as far as I care :D

For that matter, are we likely to see other objects in planetary orbits, for instance geostationary satellites on developed worlds, the contemporary version of Kepler and things like eccentric comet orbits, wandering objects and in system shuttles?

FD have hinted that Earth @3300AD will definitely NOT look like earth now. Same goes for Mars of course (its terraformed !)

Hm...Trantor?

Satellites are every small. I guess it would make a sense maybe to have them in the orbit when the planetary landing is in game, but those satellite may make it a hindrance since I bet there will be similar mechanics to entering the atmosphere of the planet as to break before entering the star system in supercruise. Seeing satellites wouldn't hurt but I bet that would be more like a fluff than anything else, unless of course you make a mini game to slalom between satellites on the most inhabited and polluted worlds.

What type of satellites are you referring to? Natural satellites (moons) or man made electronic ones?

Hope there are all kinds of planets out there all varying sizes and orbits.

For example I'd love to see two planets in orbit of each other both with life on it... anyone remember lexx? Fire and Water?

Unique things like that. Even though the tidal forces would be immense..

Very likely yes. IIRC Thousands of nearby stars and some more prominent more distant stars are in their correct places (all cataloqued ones), and also all known exoplanets. Don't remember if this was said in a newsletter, dev diary, DDF discussion or where, but I remember seeing this info somewhere. :)

A nice thought, but I wouldn't be surprised if man-made satellites weren't around in the ED time-frame, or not in the same numbers as we have in the 21st century. A possible work-around could be that technology has advanced far enough that lots of satellites are practically redundant, but a few relays are necessary. This would reduce the number of objects around a planet and reduce processing/lag et al. (although I'm not saying that such objects will increase processing/lag et al.). Perhaps FD will incorporate deep-space relays for comms (etc.) between systems.
