Horizons As of right now, what are you doing to make money? (New player)

After my disaster of passenger transportation, I tried doing some more trading and found an old video online for slave trading. So far 96t cargo gets me around 275k credits, so the process has been slow. Its been about a week of solid gameplay and my total assets totals to about 10m.

Does anyone have any good money making tips for someone with a t6 and 96t cargo?

Thanks all,
SpaceSpace

If you run in a Private Group or Solo, you could try the Tutumu Community Goal. They want Gold, Pyrophillite and Mineral Oil. This CG started on 1st Dec, and will run for a fortnight (and not the usual week). The last CG I did got me a reward of 18Mcr or so.

I will take a look at it, I did mine before trading with not so much success haha. Gold is easy enough to find, now I just have to figure out how CGs work.

No idea how to edit a post. So I looked at the community goal on galnet and its beyond to far for me. I dont know how to get there haha.

Have you considered bounty hunting?
Breaks the monotony of a never ending trading loop.
You could go on trading until you have enough credits and switch to a Vulture, with 15 million cr you should be able to afford a decent combat build.

I've tried going to a RES and followed some of the security, but I've only managed to make a something like 300-400k within 2-3 hours or so. The video I watched, the guy was getting like 200k a kill or so, made 10m in an hour.

Also, Hell Razor5543 , im not sure if my posts are awaiting a mod to allow it or not, but I dont know how to get to that CG, its 22k ly away.

unfortunately you can't make money, only CR ;-)

anyway: for trade it is either

- trading rare goods. here is a complete list https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/63119-Rare-Commodities-List! --- check for rare goods stations being in boom for best allocation and respawn. trade between 2-4 systems 120-160 ly from each other, profit will be ~300 k CR a-b-a. states like boom can change everyday!

- state depending trading. trade medicines fom boom systems to systems in outbreak or war/civil war, trade between a boom industrial or hightech to a boom extraction system. you'll easily find a 1-2 jumps route netting 3000 cr/t a-b-a. this can go up to 4500 cr/t a-b-a.... so 300 k cr - 450 k cr in 10 minutes in your t6. i for exampel currently import medical diagnostic equipment from a hightech economy to facece (military/extraction), and export gallite back - that's 4700 cr/t profit each 8 minutes, or 18,5 mio cr/h in my trutter.

here is a list i made for myself in 2.2.

- you can use eddb.io to search for supply of commodities, but you have to check for the appropriate state via galaxy map and system map, because those states can change once a day, a no thrid party tool can keep up with that.

---

and yes, you should make 3 deliveries to the current cg: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...Tutumu-Confederacy-Appeal-(Trade-with-prizes)

that should secure you >7,5 mio cr.

... and found this in another thread:

Some quick calculations, I posted this some time ago.

Based on a trade route of Cr2000 for the loop and being able to do 6 loops an hour (each loop takes 10-12 minutes) it takes roughly 180 hours to progress to a well specified Imperial Cutter just using trading.

Thanks for all the info, Goemon. I looked at the galnet and it showed me something that was very, very far away. I'll star going to Tutumu then. I hope I get some money from it =D. Thanks again.

Edit:
That is a lot of days to upgrade haha. Well, ill try and get 25m cr, then buy that vulture. Depending of how much the CG gets me if any at all, maybe I can get something better.

There are two Community Goals running, and Tutumu is NOT that far out (although the Colonia CG is 22Kly out!). I believe it to be within 400LY of Starter Space. My 'home' base of operations is around 110LY of Eravate, and Tutumu is 19 jumps away in a fully laden Anaconda (14ly when full, 20 when empty), and 10 jumps back when empty.

It is simple to take part in a Community Goal. First, read the CG details in the Mission Board (you can do this from ANY Mission board) to find out the requirements (be aware that sometimes the CG is after MINED materials, NOT those bought on the Commodities Market (NOT the case here with the Tutumu CG)). If you do not have the Horizons DLC make sure that the stations are not on planets. Then get a load of the required materials, and head to the station specified. Do NOT sell your cargo yet, but go into the Missions Board. There should be mention of a Community Goal here (at this location). Click on the local Community Goal, check it is the one you think it is and have prepared for, and then sign up for it. NOW you can sell your cargo, and it will count towards the CG. You normally will make a profit on the CG runs, but when the CG is completed you will be in line for a reward. You do need to return to the original CG station to claim the reward.

You might want to consider the fact that CG do attract the attention of lots of Players, some of whom may turn up to prevent the CG from completion. Because of this you may well want to go into Private Group or Solo modes. Be careful, and you can earn quite a few credits on CGs. In February I took part in the LHS 3447 Station Build CG, and netted myself over 100Mcr (OK, I was flying an Anaconda with 384T capacity), but I also got 4 new Players in their Sidewinders to join in (as two individual Wings, two Players in each Wing as well as myself). They benefitted from the Trade Dividends earned from being in a Wing with me (every time I sold my cargo (and they were at the station at the same time I was) they got a Trade Dividend worth 5% of my Profit Margin with no effect on myself), and at the end of the CG they each got 1Mcr reward (as well as their profits and the TDs from me). Not long after they all had Cobra MkIIIs!

I would expect the minimum reward (when the CG has completed) to be around 1Mcr, and one run will get you on the bottom reward rung. If you can get into the top 75% you should get over 6Mcr upon completion, based on how far the CG was last night (when I last played).

Currently in Aditi doing surface scan and massacre missions (then breaking that up going to Shu Babassi and doing sight-seeing passenger missions in an Asp (C6 First Class cabin). Every once in a while, you'll find a passenger mission with 2-4 stops, totaling less than 500ly, for 20M cr. Though, admittedly, I haven't been there in over a week, so I don't know if that's still the case or not. But I'm on the way back now.

@Hell Razor5543: Im at Tutumu right now, it was much closer then the other one. I'll keep mining for gold, and if the rest of the system turn out the same like the one I just tried then I will switch to buying Oil maybe.

@CMDR R SWIPE: I tried a passenger mission not to long ago with very bad results. I tried to find the beacon the passenger wanted me to go to and after going to every single POE 3 hours have passed with no results. I'll have to try again but not any time soon.

Edit:
I guess I sell the gold to Tutumu for the CG to count?

I've been finding that skimmer destruction missions, massacre missions, and passenger missions are paying the best at the moment. But for any kind of mission, you really have to be allied with the local faction(s) to get decent payouts. CGs are hit or miss, but when they hit they are very good.

I did a complete restart recently and haven't had much trouble. You might find some useful tips in the video series about it. I use no exploits, and I'm not focused on credits, but I still do just fine.

If you're not a complete newcomer, you can always pick and choose which episodes you watch. For example I just did one on passenger missions, and I show how to pick the 'easy' ones and get paid well for it. And I show how to find the beacons :) There was a bug that's been fixed that made the missions tell you the wrong place to look, though, so you could have run into that.

Click the link at the bottom of my signature, and good luck out there!

@artigan99: Thank you, I'll check them out. Im off for now, thank you all for your help, I appreciate it a lot. Take care everyone.

Last thing I did was base assaults. Either destroying skimmers there or downloading from the nodes. It's pretty much the last thing you can do without facing OP engineered AI ships that take ages to grind down, though as a new player you might not see them that often - dunno how they changed spawns for newbies.

well, ED is a slow paced game in terms of "progression" (and not only there) ... many players clock literally 1000+ hours.

You can mine gold . . . or buy it and make 5 times as many (tons) trips in the same amount of time. Lower profit but higher participation in the CG as counted in tons delivered. Take something your seller needs on the trip back and double your pleasure, double your fun (and profit!). Among other things I am hauling Mineral Oil from Hoyle to North (65k profit) and Crop Harvesters back (320k profit) switching commodities when one becomes monotonous/devalued.

I do RES kills for 1 to 3 million each run, depending on my mood. I mix that with massacre missions in civil war systems and also missions since I am trying to rank for the empire. I do like between 10 to 30 million a day, sometimes less, sometime more. It is not that relevant.
