well, ED is a slow paced game in terms of "progression" (and not only there) ... many players clock literally 1000+ hours.
I'm starting to see that haha. I've been trying to find a nice relaxing way of making money, but trading requires a bigger ship then a t6. The slaves I've been selling net me 280k or so, while a ship with 700t can get 3 mill with a single jump.
You can mine gold . . . or buy it and make 5 times as many (tons) trips in the same amount of time. Lower profit but higher participation in the CG as counted in tons delivered. Take something your seller needs on the trip back and double your pleasure, double your fun (and profit!). Among other things I am hauling Mineral Oil from Hoyle to North (65k profit) and Crop Harvesters back (320k profit) switching commodities when one becomes monotonous/devalued.
Ya, I realized that last night when I went to a system to buy Oil and sell back for the CG. I'm gonna try and get at least 75%, but we will see.
what gone wrong about your passager transportation?
I was doing a 400k cr mission in HIP 90246. I found "A" beacon, I dont know if it was the right one (I tried targeting it, nothing happened) so my first time doing this kind of mission really put me off from trying it again, I stepped back from Elite for a good two days or so. The problem was finding HIP 90236 B 6 A, I went to every POE, station, planet or what not, I went to both suns, I scanned at every point, but I had no luck even getting close to finding HIP 90236 B 6 A. I tried looking at others and it was a totally different experience from mine. I spent 3 frustrating hours trying to give the mission a try while it only took others like 10-20 min haha. A well.
I do RES kills for 1 to 3 million each run, depending on my mood. I mix that with massacre missions in civil war systems and also missions since I am trying to rank for the empire. I do like between 10 to 30 million a day, sometimes less, sometime more. It is not that relevant.
I've tried that as well, didnt get me maybe 300-400k cr within 2-3 hours. I will go back to it, a little later, I want to try other things for now.
I am currently @Tjapan, where there is a famine, you can make over 1.5k CR profit for 1t of fish. Basically all foodstuff has a very high profit margin. Nearby ag worlds have supply. I am sure there are other similar locales. Also there are charity missions available for ranking up and you can get allied while you do all this for better missions. The demand is quite high and doesn't look to be going down soon.
However, you will get interdicted. If you are starting out, trading is hazardous if your ship isn't rigged to run and has decent shields.
I bounty hunted nearly exclusively till I had enough CR for a Python 140 mill CR kitted (can be done for less) plus enough CR for more than a few re-buys. Like the man said a few posts before, this will take time, months in fact. I am at 2100hrs+.
I'll note this down and try it after I get enough of running Oil for the CG =D. As for the bounty hunting, I will give it a try later. I did RES areas, allowing the security to attack the wanted then I would scan and attack them as well. I would sometimes get 40k cr, most of the time it was 4-8k cr haha.
I've actually stopped making money. I don't see the point anymore. I've got a nice Asp Explorer with a decent jump range and modules, and 12 million in the bank for insurance. I don't have my eye on any of the bigger ships either. So, why spend the time on money I don't need. All I do now is explore and see whatever sights I can.
I'll get to that point, at some point. I haven't seen anything to enticing for explorers. I wonder if there is archaeological in Elite, or something that you can do while exploring? Anyways, I want more money to get a better ship, which is what I like to do in most games, but I also like to explore, so I will try it, just not right away.
Thank you all for your suggestions and helpful tips. I've got 70 hours of play time, another 70 and I'm sure I'll get better thank to all of you.
EDIT:
I've been finding that skimmer destruction missions, massacre missions, and passenger missions are paying the best at the moment. But for any kind of mission, you really have to be allied with the local faction(s) to get decent payouts. CGs are hit or miss, but when they hit they are very good.
I did a complete restart recently and haven't had much trouble. You might find some useful tips in the video series about it. I use no exploits, and I'm not focused on credits, but I still do just fine.
If you're not a complete newcomer, you can always pick and choose which episodes you watch. For example I just did one on passenger missions, and I show how to pick the 'easy' ones and get paid well for it. And I show how to find the beacons

There was a bug that's been fixed that made the missions tell you the wrong place to look, though, so you could have run into that.

I watched your first video, it was quite well done, I enjoyed it and learned something new. I'll be finishing the rest of them as well, I cannot wait.
