General / Off-Topic As we’re all in the mood for a little combat currently

There's a handy online tool where you can pop in a target location and specify the detonation and warhead type to see fallout patterns and casualty rates if you want to be really worried about where you live.

I'm so old I got a mower for my birthday and was very pleased.
I got my first Dishwasher a couple of month ago. I was ssooo happy. It is weird how I priorities change as we get older. "All I want is a hot girl/guy/whatever" turns into "I want a mower/dishwasher" :) Don't know whether it is sad or we have just learnt to lower our expectations as we get older :)

Being able to buy a house with a lovely big garden helps and that comes with age.

I've got a handmade cylinder mower with adjustable blade that cuts like a dream. Mrs Stigbob likes it because being unpowered it's environmentally friendly I like it because it's a superb machine that's engineered really well and works better than any powered mower I've had.

Obviously I can also shout "get off my lawn" with more conviction now as a side bonus :D(y).

Has no one played Introversion’s DEFCON?

Probably the most low-key disturbing game I’ve ever played.

When I saw that a VR mode had been added, simulating something like Dr. Strangelove’s war room Big Board, I didn’t want to play it again - not sure I’d like to hear that soft crying in the background again...

Recent studies on the effects of even limited nuclear exchanges make any outcome of any nuclear war pretty bleak.

The OP's video focus on direct effects, which are horrific enough, but even much smaller exchanges would have even more severe indirect effects.

If India and Pakistan exchanged a third of their modest supply of nukes and didn't directly kill a single person outside their own borders, hundreds of millions of people, perhaps more, would die over the next decade due to global famine.

Hmm, looks like Southern Hemisphere is the place to be

Even then, you'll still be eating your neighbors children before the worst is over.

Shall we play a game?

Just seeing how old everyone is :)
I remember that film. Really enjoyed it at the time.
I posted this once, (below) but it’s worth posting a second time. To date over two thousand nuclear tests have taken place on this planet. With an alarming about being above ground. Not to mention nuclear rocket technology which was developed in the 50-60’s ..The exhaust was virtually blown directly into the atmosphere via maze like chimneys.
To this day American honey is radioactive due to the nicker tests in the 40’s
