ASP - 33% Ship Integrity = 847,382 CR: Rebuy = 1 million

 This is ludicrous, if I wait until I have 0% ship integrity it'll be more than the rebuy.

However if I sell all my A Class modules, self destruct I'll save 600k, go figure.

Guess what I did?

They've said that at some time they are going to fix it. I.e. after claiming the insurance for the destruction of the ship you are going to get it in the state it was before the destruction. Although I do not know whether it is implemented already or not.

Hmmm...what about selling all the modules, then trading the base hull for a sidewinder taking the 10% loss, about 50k, then trading the sidewinder hull right back for a new Asp?

Were you really able to buy back every single module? The game hid a couple of mine when I was switching ships, that's why I'm asking.

What was the ship integrity of the ship bought with insurance money? Was it 100% or was it like for like?

Nope Ship Integrity was 100%

I'm in the process of re-upgrading the ASP and will post final money left and see if I actually gained, I suspect I will.

It's not.

That may have been a better idea. :D

Interesting. No ship ever gets destroyed with 100% hull integrity (unless due to bugs or sheer firepower), so that could mean we get our ships back with single digit hull integrity percentage.

This entire integrity repair format is not a good one at all. And as you correctly point out, it is terribly broken.

The problem is, when they "fix" it, this will get more idiotic and expensive, not less.

Its an interesting design...progressing to larger ships makes the gameplay less rewarding (fewer activities, much higher costs, proportionately lower rewards), not more rewarding. Once you get to a Cobra and a T6 (if you want to trade), you really should stop. You can go further, but you're worse off with every additional step.

Ship integrity is somewhat different (wear and tear damage). When it becomes 0% your actual hull strength should be decrease to 70% according to the devs.

I'm spending about 20 minutes in space and returning with only 65% or so integrity. It's broken alright - and costing me a fortune.

... excellent, EXCELLENT UAHAHAHAHAA

Uh, sorry.

The distance travelled in SC is what affects ship integrity the most. If you travel a lot - buy a cheaper ship.

Sure. However I wasn't solely talking about wear and tear. My ship's last state before destruction might be 1% hull integrity, so that's what the insurance could restore my "new" ship to.

I got to 33% Integrity because I went on a Tour of the Sol System, all the planets and Voyager 1 and 2, over 1 1/2 hours in SC.

Does the current format take into account the decreased value I wonder, as it applies to the insurance cost that is?

edit: I think the OP's picture shows an insurance cost of 200k range for the 33% integrity ship, and the ship normally costs 6 mill new I think. So that may well be in place. I'm genuinely surprised at that.

I dont understand. Why a big ship like the ASP is less durable than smaller ships in SC ? The ASP have bigger hull, more shields, more armor ... why a smaller ship will be more durable ?

Smaller ships are not more durable, they are cheaper to fix.

There's a reason my Hauler is "shuttle" spec instead of just using my Asp to travel between my 2 home bases

oooh, I wouldn't go down that slippery slope. This is a really really bad game mechanic. It is a huge cost sink applied to one of the fundamentals of gameplay in ED...movement/travel. Trying to make sense of why a developer would penalize people and therefore discourage them for doing the very thing that is required for the game to prosper and be enjoyed (especially in a MMO), and thuis should be encouraged, won't end with any meaningful answers.

Save yourself the pain :).
