Ships ASP and Vulture in combat

I thought about ASP and Vultre and their combat capability... and:
- ASP have bigger firepower than Vulture, about 33%. 2x medium + 4 small > 2x large. ASP have ~ 3 large firepower
- ASP have better armour - more than twice.
- ASP armour could be upgraded (armour packs) much more than Vulture.
- ASP can take more, and higher class cellbanks
- ASP have no power performance problems
- Vulture have better maneuverability, however ASP is possible to have lock on Vulture
- Vulture have bigger shields finally, about 35%, after booster upgrades (both in Vulture and ASP).
- Vulture is smaller, harder to hit than ASP.
- Vulture in combat configuration is cheaper than ASP.
- Speed is similar in both.

Bigger fuel tank and jump range are not combat parameters, however ASP here is dominating over everything.

Many of players forgot ASP when Vulture, hull and shield boosters was released in 1.2. ASP could be still powerful ship. I am not saying ASP is better than Vulture, however in skilled hands could be equeal and can deal strong hit to enemy.
Both of them have pros and cons.

Similar sets. In Vulture you play for shields, in ASP for armour (about 3x times more than in Vulture!)

I flied both on ASP and Vulture many hours.

I definitely didn't spend a lot of time in my asp but I do remember feeling like I was doing a lot more damage once I switched to the vulture. And the vulture is so manuverable you don't even get hit most of the time. 2 pulse Lazer on a vulture does so much damage, it's incredible. Maybe I should give the asp another shot but those class 1 mounts didn't do much if I remember correctly.
although I do agree that the asp has way better jump range and fuel capacity and in general can just do more Han the vulture. But combat wise the culture is amazing.

I have one of each. I still think the Vulture is a better combat ship, but that is all it can do. If I want to do anything else, (A CG that is not just combat, trade missions or just get to a distant system quickly), I take the Asp. Not quite as good as the Vulture in a fight, but not far off.
 
The ASP is a nice all rounder. The best so far in multi purpose for me. Because you can get 120 tonnes in trading, flies quickly for long jumps due to its fuel tanks and excels at exploring.
The only thing I don't like in it is the sound it makes. I can't fly it without a smirk in my face. It deserves a better sound than a propeller farting around.

As far as combat goes, for me, the ASP is not so versatile as the Vulture. Then again, the Vulture is only good at combat. Maybe short range exploration and missions too.
 
I don't think your assumption is correct. Once you start shooting a target bigger than the weapon class, you're hit by a damage reduction modifier. No way my Asp drops a Conda PP faster than my Vulture.
