ASP Explorer Cockpit Lights - Blinded by the Light

Hi CMDR's and Devs,

this is not a huge struggle that I am having by I want to bring it to the table anyways :)

Do you know the Cockpitlights in the ASP Explorer left and right from the HUD?
It feels (for me at least) like you are looking into a dark room while blinding yourself with a neon-light.

I love the ASP and I also love to play with a wide field of view and a very dark HUD to get the full impression of Space. But these Lights, man... [big grin]
It would be great to be able to dimm them with the overall HUD-Brightness or only have them switched on with your Shiplights on the Outside.

Thanks for your time, safe travels ;)

I wholeheartedly agree.
It's one of the reasons I prefer T6 for my exploration adventures, atm.

This issue was pointed out many times and it baffles me that Frontier haven't accounted for that, as they are usually very open to suggestions and are willing to make changes when the request is vocal enough. There are many much more insignificant things that were tweaked or fixed much quicker. :|

Isn't the HUD already so big and bright that it doesn't really matter whether there are two more lights or not?

I'd wish the HUD was a bit cleaner and more minimalistic, without those circles below the planet hologram, and shield circles to be like three dots below the ship, and the health/heat just the numbers without additional detail that distract, and the comms being just floating icons instead of those glowing bars, and so on. There is too much unnecessary stuff in your face.

But you can't properly play without HUD, so you're stuck with it as it is.

Of course I agree on the lights, guess it's just that it is the lesser problem for me there.

One of the Meet the Dev threads a while back featured someone who built several of the cockpits. She said if enough people were interested they might add a way to brighten/dim the cockpit lighting, but nothing ever came of it.

It'd be nice if you could down the brightness down at times (screenshots etc.) and up at others (the FAS cockpit is extremely dark).

You can turn down the HUD brightness. It's an option in the right hand panel under Functions. Don't think it will do anything to the lights though.

I fly the Asp a lot and those lights are quite iritating especially if you have your view set to a wide angle.
Would be happy to have them dimmed/removed.

True, but often it makes the text and lines too dark on lighter backgrounds and gives them black shadows around them and makes the numbers darker on the reflected dashboard surface glow. Kind of not very ideal, but yes the cockpit lights are still glowing white even in comparison to bright HUD. Myself I only wait for a viable ASP X alternative, if there will ever be such thing.

Just bought an ASP and this is definately annoying in the Rift. I reckon an explorer ship should have minimal internal lights. Not sure what they are there for anyway.
And another push for a minihud option to please.

It's the light that obscures the hull damage % that is the biggest problem. I need to know when to time my getaway if fight turns bad.
Since 2.1 this is all the more frequent :(
