I'm of a different mindset for interceptors, as the should have two distinct advantages, speed over large distances (in this game, fighting speed and jump range), then a hard initial punch. Today's interceptors have super-cruise (Mach speed without the use of afterburners), and decent maneuverability with longer ranged weapons. They're a bit pricier than their dogfighting brothers, and although faster would struggle a bit in a dogfight. So, here would be my suggestion:

My thinking, well it's a true interceptor/interdictor, both in jump range and speed, and it's a multi-role, in that it can also do some exploring when not catching smugglers, or intercepting enemy ships. Three things stand out;
First is her speed, an interceptor should be the fastest ship in game.
Second is her size 5 coupling, which would give her plenty of power to supply one large beam (completely underutilized weapon in this game), and a couple of small weapons with juice left over to re supply her shields.
Finally, her size 4 drive with a decent fuel tank. All interceptors must be able to intercept at decent ranges before the enemy becomes a threat to the target that you're protecting.
Anyway, just my 2 cents from a retired USAF airman.
