ASP making more credits/hr than a Cutter... Really?

So basically a 30 mil asp makes more money than a 300 mil dedicated trader Cutter... Really? I must admit that my Cutter is gathering dust and that I enjoy the smuggling missions myself- a lot so please i am not asking for a nerf. But do give designated traders something to be excited about and not only the a-b-a stuff... Let them make long range trades where they can transport 700t of biowaste to a filthy planet that needs the waste to ( use imagination here) ... And please dont tell me that smuggling is difficult or dangerous... Been doing it for a long time and - i quote- 'it's as dangerous as eating icecream'... And the guy who wrote this was right...

Elite bulk mission hauling in a Cutter (long range) , hell even my Python makes more money than an Asp doing long range mission hauling..

So to answer your question, an Asp comes nowhere close to the income generation a Cutter provides in regular & long range mission hauling.

Agree with you sir, but i'll go one step better....... 'Cobra Making More Credits/Hr than a Cutter' (http://coriolis.io/outfit/cobra_mk_....Iw1-kA==.IwBhvMuhmKg=?bn=Wasp0_Mission_Cobra )

My 40 ton Cobra can make over 20 mill/hr (More than a Trutter), my ASP makes upwards of 35+ Credit/Hr

Simple fix : put in trading missions that are both rewarding, challenging and adapted to large hauling ships.

Something along deliveries contracts : get us 2K tons of consumer tech, if done under 3 hours, get a bonus. If not done after 6 hours, mission fails.
Add in some pirates nagging you into the mix, and you'd have a rather challenging timer mission with pirate complications. That would be quite an
improvement over the bland A<->B trading we have now.

Could become even better if you could do them in wings and share the mission reward. That way, one player could take the hauling mission, while
a Bounty hunter take a pirate killing mission. Wing up, and voilà ! actually interesting (and rewarding beyond RP) trader+escort gameplay.

And btw, there are long range delivery missions that are not smuggling.

What rank are you guys? How can a 700 tonne cargo capacity ship stacking long haul missions make less money than an Asp? I started on the Asp, moved to the Python, than the Cutter. Now someone is saying his 40 tonne Cobra is making 20 mill? You lose that kinda money behind the couch when long range hauling to planets in a Cutter at Tycoon/Elite rank

Do you Mean 'Shadow Missions' Sir? or just standard 'Illicit Cargo Missions'?

Before 1.5 I had a 3,600 per ton / 2,200 per ton route. Immediately logging into the game after the patch that was a 2,000 / 450 run.

Spent time looking around but all prices had dropped.

So I could carry on trading, knowing I wasn't making anywhere near what I was an hour before the patch or I could try something different. I entered the game very quickly after the patch so there was no way there had suddenly been 900 Cutters with 700 tons of cargo appearing on my very quiet trade route to wipe out stocks.

I had made 1.4Billion trading the normal way. That was risk free (I died once in all that time)

I've made 400Million on shadow missions. Failed a few but I'm on the edge of my seat all through the delivery process, praying to Chuck Norris that no Police Vipers are on my tail.

Most fun I've ever had in the game!

I know 777 but what i really want to say is that smuggling in an asp makes more money than normal trading in a Cutter... And there should be some incentive to promote normal trading cause smuggling is really easy...

Why ? I don't think there is anything easier than normal trading. If anything trading would benefit from being more mission centric and "spicier" if you get my meaning.

They need to limit the output of Shadow Missions, so that a maximum number can be undertaken every day. Say hello to Elite's daily quests! :)

Shadow missions pay crap money, I'm talking bulk haulage missions 4 mill to haul 60 tonnes, sometimes big amounts like 160 tonnes, still the massive cargo bay means I can soak it all up whilst rotating between ports. Once full, I do the run back into the bubble, many missions are to the same planetary ports or orbital starports. I'll pick up the occasional smuggling mission if the pay is very good

My point... Have the same issues... Make trading fun by missions - like smuggling...
Edit: so Muetd agreed!

Do you mean the legal or the illegal kind? I've only seen long range hauling missions which pay half and need you to carry 20 times the cargo.

(I'm not contesting what you're saying, just curious to see if I haven't searched enough for good long range trading missions).

Edit: NVM, answered above.

Normal trading is fairly no risk trouble free environment. smuggling, is fun but pretty intense (not difficult, just intense) Bulk long range haulage is fine, you usually just get the 'Drop down at my wake' Npc's following you.

I wouldn't do normal A-B-A trading in a Cutter, the ship is perfect for long range bulk hauling.

@Weps, smuggling normally has low cargo requirements. Bulk haulage missions tend to range from 30 tonnes up to 180 tonnes (from what I've seen)

I'll take the cutter to Aditi or Fehu, rotate between the planetary bases and surface ports, fill up 700 tonnes of legal Elite/tycoon missions, throw a couple of smuggling ones in. I keep the smuggling ones to a minimum to reduce interdiction spamming.

I completely agree.

But it goes further than just that...

I'm elite (combat and trade) so I get more choice of missions which is how it should be.

I think there should be more credit scaling between the rank vs missions. I can still pick up 6 million credit missions with a Broker or Entrepreneur rank requirement. I think this is where some people are getting huffy because someone who hasn't got a decent rank, who can just afford an Asp, can still pick up missions paying about the same as those with an Elite requirement.

For me, when I stack a dozen of these missions, it is the most intense game-play currently in the game for me. For the most part I succeed but it doesn't always happen. Even when I do succeed it is usually filled with close calls (Police in Vipers are evil ).

I'd like to see a few things tweaked...

1. Payout scales better with Rank
2. Many more missions on the board... of all types
3. Bigger fines and bigger reputation loss on failed missions.
4. Maybe a 'filter mission type' so the board is filled only with those missions you are interested in.
