(Asp?) Navigation Panel Changes?

So what happened to the Asp's navigation panel?

previously, when I used the navigation pane, I could still see the selected target holographic, this aided exploring in that I could see what I was targeting, so I could filter out the asteroid belts.

Now... I can't see the holographic (well, maybe a tiny a bit of it), which means to know what I just targeted, I have to close the navigation panel, check, then go back to the panel to select the next system body.

whut?

Is this something that's just happened to the Asp, or has it happened because the comms panel has been changed?

seriously, whilst not a deal breaker, this definitely makes things more difficult for explorers.

not..... happy.

Just noticed it in my Asp and was a bit annoyed. However:

Use headlook mode to look left and the Nav panel pops up, select X as destination, then a quick look to your right and you can see what type of target it is - if an asteroid belt just look back at the Nav panel and select the next target. Only used a couple of times so far but I already think this might improve immersion.

Yes, it seems to work well on headlook, guess all those OR and TrackIR people are fine.

I'm an old-school kinda guy though, and headlook is one of those things I've never been good at using well, so I don't much. It's just frustrating when I can't use the muscle memory I've built up over the past few months. rapidly moving and selecting through the local body list to find the body I want to scan.

I'm wondering whether UI elements actually moved around to cause this, or whether it's just a zoom/FoV change when focussing on the panel. can changing the FoV slider help to show me more of the copckpit I wonder?

Not sure what the issue is here, I fly an asp and I'm currently 19k ly away from inhabited space, I can still see part of the holographic when I'm on the Nav screen so I can still see the difference between a planet and an asteroid.

Yes, this was annoying me last night. There is only a tiny bit of the holographic that you can see.

The nav panel needs some way to differentiate between the types of bodies so you don't need to look at the holographic. Some icons or brief descriptions would improve things a lot.

Got to be worth a try. RL things to do at the moment so won't be able to try it out for a few hours. From Wdfourty's comment I'm guessing (hoping!) a FoV change may well help.

Maxing out the FoV (without modifying the config file) does indeed help, it does show part of the holographic, which is enough to differentiate the types of body.

Had this "problem" too (exploring systems and use the holo to determine body types when targeting). The FoV-slider did the trick for me too. Thanks!

i experienced this in my cobra too... at least can i see a few pixels which allow me to tell if it's a belt cluster or a planet/star... so there is no loss in information, but now it feels like insufficient ui-design or dealing with a bug. and that's bad because the holographic in the nav menu provides important gameplay information for an explorer.

I noticed this right away in beta. It appears that when using a button (not headlook) to access the panels it zooms in more than it used to. Seems to be that way in all ships from what I can tell.

Yeah - I noticed this yesterday too, I could see just enough of the holographic for it to be useful, but it was far less nice than it used to be.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got annoyed at this (I thought it was too trivial to mention).

Just use 3 monitors, you see everything :p

yep I use eyefinity and was like what are you on about, I had too turn off the 2 side monitors to understand what u meant, no idea if that's different now cause I still see it on my single center screen even In the nav panel,,
