Asp or Anaconda for Sag A*?

Is that an A grade scoop? In my opinion, they aren't worth it. They will only fill your tanks maybe 10 secs faster (if almost completely empty) than a much cheaper B grade. Unless you're Buckyballing, it's a waste of money. Of course, that's my opinion :)

Sometimes you just want to feel rich...

Asp is great. Low entry price is nice.

Once you are out of occupied space, turn off the shield gen, AFMU and Hanger (if the latter is fitted) and the Asp runs nice and cold, and will scoop all-day ery'day like a boss. It amazes me how many people still have their shields on 10k out of the bubble; until thargoids or some other big-bad turns up, who is going to shoot at you, even in open?

Any ship will get you there. But no ship has the view the Asp can give you. To me, half the enjoyment of Exploration comes from the view, so why take a ship that by design takes up 60%-75% of the screen at all times?

Take an Asp and actually enjoy yourself.

I'd say Asp. Doing DW in an Anaconda and the turn rate in SC is a pain. The Anaconda does have advantages in most other areas, in that you can carry more SRVs and get a better jump range.

But why not do something different? Everyone and their dog flies an Asp or Anaconda. Do something crazy.... although, having said that, i think the core has been visited by people in just about every ship in the game by now.

I did it in a Cobra, so you can take any ship there. If you usually get bored quickly, I'd say go for the ship with the best jump range. Else, go with the one you enjoy flying the most !

Asp for better supercruise handling that will shave hours of tedium off your trip (pulling away from starts moving between scan targets). Also think of the return back to bubble. If you get interdicted in a Conda you can't outrun anything and can't land at an outpost to sell your exploration data so you need to find a full station. And if you were too macho to get a docking computer when you left in a Conda, you might learn the definition of 'skill atrophy' when you meet an insurance screen 200m from the pad.

I've been out since the beginning of January and I should be home in a couple of weeks. I dip into the docking tutorial mission every now and then to keep my hand in

I did take a docking computer and will use it when i return, but ill be watching carefully as it docks. I've had the DC wig out on me a few times, so i'm not 100% trusting.

That was true pre Horizons but if you plan to land on planets I strongly suggest some hull re-enforcements and shields. It only takes one screw up on approach to a high G planet and....... This seems to have caught out a few CMDR's on the distant worlds expedition. Obviously if you dont intend to land on planet then don't bother and save the mass but it is nice having the option to collect materials for extended jumps and repairs.

If you just want to rush to a tourist destination the Conda is a little bit faster. All in all I'd say it doesn't really matter. Personally I prefer an ASP. I can scoop more aggressively and thus faster. A Coda kitted for max jump range isn't the most nimble ship.

Another question, are you guys surface scanning each system you jump in? I get it that it depends on how long you want to be out for and how much $$$ you want to make, but is there a typical guideline for that. Scanning most systems to Sag and back would take you over a year i feel......
