Yup - I think I invented something new. I call it Asp Riding. I need to take a screenshot or a video of when it happens again, but it's absolutely hilarious and I'm sure a quark of the AI's programming mixed with the size of the Asp.
.
I fly a Viper and I've been doing some hunting lately (well, always). The first time it happened I was confused. I was SUPER close to an Asp with the throttle to almost 0. For some reasons, perhaps because they're so big, but an Asp with no turrets throttles down to almost nothing when it cannot get you in it's line of sight.
.
When that happened I also throttled down to 0, but maneuvered vertically to avoid the nose. Somehow I ended up stuck on the back of the Asp riding it while it tried to jet away! I kept holding the vertical throttle, managed to roll over, and just kept firing away at it while it was running around like a bucking bronco until it finally exploded.
.
When it happened a second and a third time, I kind of learned how to do it on purpose. Now I'm Asp Riding left and right! Maybe a new CMDR contest - who can ride the Asp the longest? :-D
