Asp vs T6

Depends. I went from an ASP (88 cargo fully upgraded roughly) to a T6 (fully upgraded cargo of 100 roughly) and then a T7.
If you're not too bothered about maximum profit the ASP is ok and obv able to defend itself much better.
But if you want max profit...wait for the t7 (fully upgraded cargo 216 roughly)
Totally up to you whether you vaule profit over defence though :)
The t7 can be fitted with gimballed turrets, but they are not great.

The T6 is nothing but a paper tissue thin hull with the ability to carry 100 tons, I have never felt so unsafe in any ship in-game other than when I flew my flying dustbin around the Galaxy for 2 weeks to gain the beauty that is the ASP. T6 carries about 104 tons and the Asp about 96.....however......like Geordie says above....when you have an Asp with 6 multi cannons....it is able to defend itself from NPC wings and just normal bandits. When you have to run it is much faster too, especially on A5 thrusters, but they are 5 million chap, but even A4 thrusters will make it go like a stabbed rat. The Asp has an even better cockpit than the T6 in terms of ease of view, the best engine sounds in the game, better armor shields and gun placement. If you want to run and get away.....An Asp......if you want to fight for a bit before you run......an Asp.....if you want to be burning in pieces of carbon and hull....a T6 Dave...but you pays your monies and takes your choice.

Yes I and Geordie I am sure am aware of the name and it's background, just highlighting the greatness of that ship and the badness of the other. Running undersized or smaller shields is certainly not a good idea for a trader now that even NPC wings in solo can consist of 2 to 4 ships that may not even scan you for cargo before they start shooting.

Clipper..184 cargo without downgrading the shields, fit a shield booster, armed to the teeth and able to deal with any NPC, fast enough to run away if you need to and only 5 mill more than the T7. Assuming you have the Empire rank of course

I just upgraded.....the answer is yes!

you can wait or you can invest in something with a better jump range, cargo, weapons, etc.(dependent on build) and make money a bit faster. I chose not to wait, plus I keep reading that out of the different ships that people keep that this is one of them. So far I like it better, with no reason why.....lol

You can get extra jump range and 120T (or 128 without shields if you are game) in an asp, vs 104 in a T6. That 16 tonnes may not seem like much but it sure makes the trip to a t7 or clipper quicker

Totally wrong- you need more cash(40m vs 24 mil) to outfit a clipper.

It is worth going a T7 in between
