ASP Waepon Loadout advice needed

Hi,

Currently have an ASP with 2 x 2D Beam Lasers Gimablled and 4 x 1G Gimballed Multicannons i have these to trade in plus around 2 million hcredits. ANy suggestions of what to kit out with ans where from if not standard kit.

Thanks

J

I have 4 x type 1 gimballed pulse lasers and 2 x type 2 gimballed multicannons, split fire groups into pulse and cannons, to take out shileds then hull.. works ok on most ships even the bigger ones if you can avoid ramming damage and irregular movement of them

Enty

I have kitted out my Asp in a fairly similar way to you (a pair of beam lasers, and 2 pairs of multi cannons) but the main difference is that I use class 1 beam lasers, and have one of my pairs of multi cannons as class 2. I find the class 1 gimballed beam lasers are powerful enough to take down the shields quite easily, and a class 2 multi cannon deals some serious damage, especially when combined with a further pair of class 1 multi cannons.
I saw this video on YouTube where the guy has kitted his Asp completely with multi cannons and no lasers at all. The ease with which he destroys ships is quite impressive, and I'm seriously thinking of going the same way. Take a look....

OMG. Just watch this video. 6 multicannons absolutely destroy! Now granted, that was a beta video, but /boggle. I think I'm gonna try this.

i use 6 gimballed multicannons and anything smaller than a cobra gets killed almost instantly, and these are just normal multicannons

I run with four class 1 fixed beam lasers and two class 2 gimballed multicannons. The beams will remove most ships' shields very quickly, and you can continue to use the beams in conjunction with the multicannons once the shields have gone to burn things down very quickly.

Four beams do run up the heat very quickly, so you want to have a good distribution system and have four pips to weapons when you're using them.

3x beams, 3x multi-cannons. Split right down the middle, so both sets are equal in power and cross-matched to maximise convergence.

Two fire groups, one for beams. Another two fire groups to manage chaff and cells. Everything maxed to A. Military hull - which doesn't get used much.

She's a beast.

I went for 4 small gimballed beam lasers and 2 medium multicannons, then went to 2 gimballed cannons, then 2 railguns once I had a decent power plant, was pretty happy with that setup. Didn't actually try fixed beam lasers, probably should have done. A killer setup though, lasers for the cheap bounty easy kills, railguns for the big guys.

still playing around with loadout.

Currently 2xC2 gimbaled Beam Lasers, 2xC1 fixed rail guns, 2xC1 fixed fragment cannons split on three firegroups.

thinking was C2 gimbaled for normal use. rail guns when chaffed/lowenergy and enemy far (or he boosts away to frameshift to safety). fragment cannons when chaffed/low energy and/or ennemy near

Wow, that military hull must have broken the piggy bank !

I'm using 2 class 2 beams, 2 class 1 beams and 2 missile launchers.

I've used the missiles once so far by accident.

I was in a USS and came across a Funeral Barge... A Lakon 9 and assorted transports etc. I THOUGHT I was using my Kill Warrent scanner just for fun... but I had the wrong weapon group out :(.

2 missiles launched a hearse. I got out of there quick!!!

I am a bad bad man :(

LOL that made me smile. I'm equally foolhardy with scanners. I managed to deploy them along with weapons, inside a station. The station authorities didn't like it. They opened fire. I died.

Shame about the 300k insurance I had to pay, and the 250k cargo I lost. Expensive mistake :)

I am overly fond of plasma accelerators, and was planning on a 2 fixed beam, 2 gimballed multicannon, 2 purple balls of death layout. First things first, I'm upping my power distribution. :D

Can't say that I was very impressed with the plasma accelerators. They do okay damage but it never felt like they were doing more damage than simple multicannons, and the loss in damage each time I missed really hurt. Plus they are projectile weapons that still generate a fair bit of heat: overall I struggled to find anything to like about them.

You'd think so. It was 27m when I first looked.

Had a wee gander when I started in gamma. 7m.

Either they ninja tweaked the cost or I got a 20m discount for being allied to the station.

Costs a lot to cover wear and tear though. 10k per %.

Plasma accelerators and I go waaaay back. There's partly a nostalgia factor at work, partly a one-shotting a fighter factor.

Ahhh, ok. I think I looked at hull upgrades for my Asp a day or two ago, and I seem to remember the one step up (reinforced ?) was about 4.5 million. I was expecting the military to be a lot more. I've been spending my credits on other components so far, but soon I'll be saving for a hull upgrade.
