Assassinate Terrorist Leader - not wanted?

Anyone else seen this before? A Wing Mission target that isn't wanted? I can see how that might be possible, given that he's in a different system to the mission giver, and one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, but him and his wingmates are all called 'terrorists' in the contact list, so it does seem odd.

So, any other takers on this?

In the mission description did it say something along the lines of "this activity may be considered illegal in some systems". It's the game basically telling you that you're being contracted to kill an "innocent" pilot. Those missions do exist. The assassinate deserter ones are like that also. Pirate Lords are always wanted, but the others aren't necessarily criminals.

I have experienced the same with pirate lords in wing missions as well, my only explanation was a bug or the target being close to a station where there is another jurisdiction as there can be several in one system.

The missions description did not have a 'may be illegal in some systems' tag, no. I do check very carefully these days! I left the fight anyway, paid off the bounty and went back. This time he was wanted... So who knows what that was about...

KWS hmm, interesting idea, but I'm not sure where I'd squeeze one in on my FDL. A heatsink is taking up the only non-shield booster slot :D

Btw how do you do these? They usually send me to some high security place to scan something I can't get near without getting shot up or a bounty.

risk v reward

you are a merc for hire, the crazy machinations of some minor faction are of little concern. the crazier the better roleplay.

once, trying to get a minor into power and finally getting them to an election they offered me an election spec ops mission with no details. i later learned i was to kill 32 civilians, but they were civilians of the faction who gave me the mission but i was to kill them in a different system then their home one.

i could have filed a bug report but that just adds to the gameplay for me.

a minor faction who is willing to murder 32 of their own citizens for the chance of winning an election. well, willing as much as they are to pay a hired gun they can disavow with a bounty for plausible deniability.

This is a bug.
There is two workarounds:
Drop from SC and back. Targets change ship models, rank, wanted status, escort composition each spawn. Everything except their name basically. And they respawn each time you see them.
Or get your fine for interdiction and wait untill they attack you, which will make them wanted. In USS, wait untill they hit a mandatory friendly/neutral ship which always spawns there.

They are carrying 300-500k bounty even if it says that they are clean, so it is bugged.

I've seen this, and I'm pretty sure it's a bug. However, it's not a massive issue to work around at least. Sure, interdicting them gets you a fine, but that's not a big deal. Then just wait til the bad guys fire the first shot (they always do).
