Assassination missions.... Advice.

Hi

Call me a fool, but I play a clean player in ED for the most part... I do not do the kill civvie or kill police missions.

However I do like the odd assassination mission.

Way back when, for the most part, it was obvious if the target would be clean or not (target was a jail break / pirate lord / etc would obviously be wanted and the hero of X or the businessman mogul would be clean)

This meant I could have a good idea on what missions to take.

But recently most of the missions are very vague and just say Kill "insert name here"

is there a way to find out if the target is likely to be a criminal or not now as the way I see it, a mission based bounty hunter is not viable any more

thanks

I play cleanly as well. I take assassination missions, but do not engage them (usually) unless they are WANTED. The exception was a rank promotion mission where I took the bounty to get Baron rank for a clipper. If I see a target who is CLEAN I abandon it.

Edit: Here's a tip. If the target is in a Wing, check the secondary targets. If one of them is WANTED you can engage them, the primary will fire on you to defend the secondary and they become WANTED by hitting you (assuming you are CLEAN)

Try to take missions from an anarchy system, from a pirate faction. Most of the time you will get missions against another pirate faction in a non-anarchy system, which means a fat bounty bonus on top of the mission paycheck.

thanks for the info all.

Hopefully things will be made a little more clear, with some extra "back story" in 2.1 but until then i will take on board the info above.

All members of an npc wing share the same wanted status. This was changed in one of the patches since 2.0 and was in the patch notes. (sorry can't remember which)

The missions for taking out a pirate lord, or a terrorist (in the mission description) are still there, they are just rather rare.

I grab those every time I get a chance, but like the other posters above I just abandon any ambiguous mission once I see that the target is clean. If they weren't chained to the current system, I'd follow them to see if they were wanted elsewhere.

Back in 1.2, I role-played even stricter - I'd abandon the mission if the target was wanted yet was lamenting their mistakes and vowing to change their ways. No more :D

Yeah I stopped taking on assassinations missions unless I knew they were wanted and I rarely see these missions any more.

Like you I'm hoping 2.1 will make things more clear and we will see a reduction in the number of kill civilians / trader type missions for non anarchy factions.

I like killing the celebrities...especially when they start asking where to get some overly complicated "coffee" in system.
