Newcomer / Intro Assassination missions - bounty

When I take an assassination mission and track down and eliminate the target, I immediately get a WANTED bounty
This seems to disappear when I jump out of the system - there is no reference to the bounty in the contacts panel, or with the interstellar factors.
Is this normal....?
(does it matter if the target was a member of a certain faction? for example, an Anarchy faction)

It can vary by target type and the bounty is from the local faction so if you jump to a system they are not present in you won't be wanted there. You can see if you're wanted in a system in the galaxy map when you're plotting your route and also in the pop up window when you initiate the jump. Targets that are called "pirates" and "known terrorists" in the mission title/ description are going to be wanted and won't generate a bounty. Others will (i.e. politicians, activists) unless your target is in an anarchy system then whether your target is wanted or not won't matter because it's anarchy there. I usually avoid "wetwork" missions and just focus on the pirate and terrorist missions. When you scan your target, the target information box in the bottom left will tell you if the target is wanted (and if they are your mission target). You can also load up a kill warrant scanner to see if there are any out of system warrants on a target (not an automatic scan so it has to mapped to a fire group and takes some seconds). Lastly any bounty (and fine) you get on you should be listed in your transactions page (left panel) and you can clear your bounty at an interstellar factor. Hope that helps some.
