Horizons Assassination Missions - what am I doing wrong.

Okay I am back from about a 9 mos hiatus playing ED. Participated in the CG around LP-339 for the first week and now am back at doing missions. I have taken two assassination missions and both had the same result - the target NEVER showed up.

I jumped into the target system, scanned with my discovery scanner and DID receive the update telling me what part of the system to look for the target in. I loitered in that area scanning every ship for the my target during the time window. When the time window expired I got the notice from the Patron that "time is running out" for both I stayed in the are for another 30min until I was told the mission failed.

Are missions STILL bugged or did something change over the last 9 mos that I did not do? Help a commander out.

As fas as I understand now it looks like - you don't need to scan ships around target body, just orbit around and wait for an USS to appear, and voice message about mission target

You head to the target body, remain in supercruise, and slowly pass by the planet. Sometimes takes a couple of loops, but eventually you'll get a Mission Objective USS. Target that, drop into it, and your target will be there, usually along with some NPCs that the target begins to harrass.

You're looking for a mission specific USS. It'll be coloured blue (on the default colour scheme at least) and usually gives an alert.

As the above poster says just orbit the planet and wait for a Mission Objective USS to appear, you computer will tell you. These are my favourite missions, especially plasma corvettes.

Go to the planet, then look at your nav panel and you'll see it in blue near the top. If it's not on your nav panel, you're probably at the wrong planet.

Ahh that explains it...was used to the target just showing up in SC so was looking for SHIPS. Frontiers wonderful documentation strikes again...

Thanks for the replies people - will take another Assassination mission and see if I can figure it out :)
