Assassination Target Keeps Jumping Away

CMDRS,

I haven't done any bounty hunting since 1.1 hit.

I've located my target and engaged him three times now. The first two times he jumped away once I got him low. Both times I was sub targeting his power plant. The third time, I jumped into a USS immediately after the previous effort to find him at full hull and shields, while I was low on munitions from the engagement 30 seconds earlier. I r engaged anyways, but had to bug out when my shields were dropped.

How am I supposed to finish him off? I'm already dropping his power plant pretty low but he still bugs out. Should I be targeting the FSD drive I guess?

Halp! ;)

Targets also respond to intimidation. I'm not quite sure how FD did it, but all you have to do is stand on your seat and then yell at the screen "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL" ... It leaves them shaking in their cockpits, unable to punch the FSD button.

I actually had this issue recently with an assassination mission.
It was due to the fed's showing up, he would jump out as soon as they showed up. It happened multiple times for the same Pirate Lord. I had another concurrent assassination mission and that one didn't run at all.

The solution was to disable the "report crimes against me" option in the right hand sub panel.
Once I did that he stuck around, I just had to solo him with no help.

He's still jumping out before I can finish him. I guess you just can't do enough damage fast enough to assassinate in an eagle... going back to my viper. Shame, I was quite enjoying that little bird

Must be new in 1.1 then. This is the 2nd thread I read complaining about jumpy assasination target. Apparently they can't jump if you kill one of the drives, which should be easy as it's not armor protected (if the NPC use hull armor)

Target their drives as the first thing. If you render their drives useless it also means they cant FSD out, and you can take your time executing him.
If they have a docking computer target that. I hear it makes them blow up if it goes boom.

Finally got him. The drives ended up doing the trick. That was the closest I've been to the "fix your game FD!" Crowd. Hint: still not very close =)
