Guy's,
Sorry I appreciate this isn't the right forum, am waiting for steam to fix my account so can't post over at the Asseto corsa forum. Am downloading the racing sim but would like some links to videos/guides for getting the DK2 setup. Anyone know of any links or guides? Any info i find through Google is from mid last year.
Cheers
Been there a week ago, so i can help.
1- It does not exist a "straightforward" method. Support for the rift is not optimal, so you will need to fiddle a bit one way or the other.
2- The way i managed to get it up and running everytime, with no issue is the following:
- Set up the Rift in extended mode in Oculus utility, but set it as PRIMARY monitor in Windows display setup.
- This will make the Rift your primary monitor, which is a bit of a pain as you will need to select and move some windows using your mouse and looking inside the rift.
- Set Assetto Corsa to run in Windowed mode, this is very important. You can do it by editing one simple number in a config file of Assetto Corsa (google this).
- Open Steam and move it from the Rift "desktop" to the normal monitor (to do this you have to use the mouse while looking in the rift, and move the Steam window from the Rift "desktop" to your primary monitor.
- Launch AC from Steam and do the same with AC window: you have to move that window from the Rift "primary" monitor to your regular monitor. This way you will have AC running in a window on your normal monitor, and you will be able to set it up, choose what you want to play, etc.
- Set up AC options so they are ok with the rift (this is easy, just google it). Also uncheck the option to run AC in full screen (don't worry the game will run in full screen).
3- When you have coosen play mode, set up the options etc., just start the race (or practice or whatever), the game will now be displayed on the rift and off you go. To quit, do alt+f4 and you will be back to the menu in the regular monitor.
Remember that you can center the view with ctrl+space while in-game, and very important setup sweetfx for Assetto Corsa with Oculus as it will make the graphics quite sharper (very important as resolution with DK2 is quite fuzzy in AC). Google this there are a couple of threads in which its explained, you just have to download the Sweetfx pack and unzip it in the right directory.
Again...it took me a couple of days of hassle to fully grasp how it works, but now i can be up and running within one minute with everything working perfectly.
And pushing a F1 at the Eau Rouge in Spa at full throttle is just incredible...
