Newcomer / Intro assist modules

no, you will either hit the exclusion zone or come out of SC into normal space and eventually face plant the planet if landable or bounce off the exclusion zone if not. Same for Stars and Asteroid belts if youre on the wrong side of them

unless its the one you are targeting in which case it will go into Orbit.

Also be aware of Asteroid Rings around Planets... the SuperCruise Assist is prone to send the Ship into it while attempting to enter Orbit around the body if the inner Ring is close enough around the body.

Approach and orbital entry via SCA around such bodies must be closely monitored.

Hello Commanders, real fast, will supercruise assist fly your ship around planets that are in the way?
This has been answered quite effectively. I'll just add my support to the belief that Assisted Supercruise is THE most pointless module in the game. It really is insanely easy to fly in SC - drop to 7 secs and let 'er cruise in.
As a fun aside, it's probably the module that'll get you killed the quickest. Put a single valuable item in your hold and engage ASC...2 minutes tops before interested gents with guns come to play. They're usually quite insistent. 😁

It will tell you if your destination is occluded. It will prompt you to take corrective action.

SCA is the lazy CMDR's tool: I use it all the time!

I love it, stops me staring at the screen waiting for 7s.then staring at the screen waiting to press Y

I can put the kettle on, make a cuppa, and sit back down to listen to the Blue Danube and just relax.

you fly your own damn ship on the motorway, I have a chauffeur for that coz Im rich in game, I fly it when its fun not just aiming in a straight line for minutes on end. then im off in the menus or trying to crack that damn code or something.

and yes, I play Open unless its too laggy, thats the only danger of SCA, you go to to put kettle on and 5 minutes later youre doing something else, then remember, crap im in Open and rush back to find all safe and just orbiting the planet.

SC has lost its appeal to me now, its just a way of getting somewhere to do what I want to, not the gameplay I want, but its optional so thats great :)
