Asteroid belts cause all sorts of graphics/handling problems?

I'm really puzzled by this. For the last week, I've been having fun mining. Earned enough for a Cobra. However, for the last three days, whenever I reach an asteroid belt, I get all sorts of game-play issues. Namely:

1) The asteroids no longer roll smoothly like they did last week. Now, they judder round.
2) All controls have a noticeable lag, making it harder to scoop fragments.
3) I have to physically press each control for longer to make it work, keyboard included.
4) The left and right GUIs take 3 seconds to appear.
5) Each menu takes longer to navigate, due to the lag - even the Pause menu!
6) The beam on the mining laser has vanished - I just see the impact burns.
6) All of this combined has turned mining from a pleasure to a chore.

It is literally as though the game is on film, and there is a pause between each frame.

Has anybody else experienced this? One day, everything's great in an asteroid belt, the next, it's nigh-on unplayable, as what should have taken 30 minutes now takes 90? And as soon as I jump back near a starport, everything works fine again! Back out to a different asteroid belt? Same problem. Back to a starport, all fine again.

I'm running a brand new gaming laptop, NVidia GeForce GTX graphics. I've tried turning all my graphics settings from HIGH/ULTRA down to MED. Makes no difference. And, like I say, with all settings at max, launching and docking remains perfect.

I have the same problem. Seems since the server problems ed can't handle lots of spinning asteroids. I went to a belt with fewer asteroids and things went back to normal.

I'm about to create a ticket for an issue I had yesterday in one.

I took down an anaconda in my cobra and earned at 14,000CR Bounty, but this has yet to show up in my transactions :/
