asteroid belts in unexplored systems.

So I found an asteroid belt of metal way out in unexplored area, what I noticed is that it has no designation like depleted reserves or pristine, even after I scanned it. is this a bug or are belts in non inhabited reagions all pristine?

I have never seen any belts designated depleted reserves or pristine - perhaps because I have not mined in well populated areas.

Maybe your confusing it with planetary rings? Which tend to be pristine in unexplored systems that have no outposts. But I normally don't bother scanning asteroids as they are worth no money.
