Asteroid structures. A visual "clue" for players.

The idea:
I was thinking about a feature for asteroid clusters/systems we mined, and that is to create a sort of metal structures or scaffolding like structures.
Metal bars/floors/walls and a few blinking/full lights. To have 2 types where one version looks functional/new and another version that are beat up
with metal bars sticking out looking a bit destroyed/old. They have no function other than to make the players see what has been going on which in
its turn create more immersion as well as telling the player something. The player will see that mining has been going on and thus also get a feeling
of more "life".
Image below shows the rough idea i had. Googled it after i came up with the idea and this was the closest to how i pictured it. However the one in
my head was less complex and not a full detailed base-like structure. Simpler but with the same effect - that this cluster/system has been mined.

Mechanics of it:
The idea i got was to have these on asteroids where players have been mining a couple of times. If asteroid clusters are pristine and never been
mined by players then you wont see them. Im thinking it shouldnt be many smacked up all over, but just maybe one to a few spread out over the
whole cluster. So only max 1 on an asteroid at a time, and maybe just 1 to 5 on a 10-12 asteroid cluster so 5 are "clean" from these structures. You
could have the newer/operational looking ones when players been mining a few times, kinda like the system just lost its pristine status, and when
a system has been mined a lot it will spawn the old/destroyed looking ones mixed with new. And then spawn only old ones when a system have been
mined but not for a long time. So they are dynamic visual que's for the player. I dont know if clusters are regarded as pristine or if its the system
itself dictating this. That i leave to you guys. There is no need to change how asteroids work in itself for this, but just add these for activity immersion
and understanding of a clusters status. For the feel of that something has been happening there. That commanders been there mining before.
I think it would feel amazing to see them and also feel the functionality of it. So to break it down:

  • Systems/asteroid clusters that are pristine do not have structures.
  • Systems/asteroid clusters mined a few times have functional looking structures.
  • Systems/asteroid clusters mined many times have new and old/destroyed looking structures.
  • Systems/asteroid clusters mined long time ago have old/destroyed looking structures.

Final word:
These structures doesnt have to be massive super complex models. Just enough to be seen by the player. Maybe some sort of platform-like or
scaffolding structure style. I know the asteroids are massive, but im sure your talented art team could think something up, and with the graphics
fidelity in ED it would look amazing im sure. I'll keep firing ideas your way as i think of them when playing, and maybe one of them will be good
enough to spawn an interest. :)
