Just found an LP of the early Alpha on YouTube (by BohemianEagle) and am astounded just how polished this is for an early Alpha (and I'm not at all easy to impress, I think that the first game that ever really impressed me was the original Elite which I bought for my Beeb way back on the release date, 20th September 1984).
But this Alpha is so good - graphics, music and especially the sound effects. In fact, even though the graphics and music are excellent, it's the sound effects that have impressed me the most. The sounds of the thrusters, the laser, the gatling gun, etc - so incredibly good. Well done to the sound designer(s) - now please don't go down the route of 'improving' them only to make them worse!
If only I had £200 to spare I'd dive into this right now, but sadly I'm going to have to wait until it's under £50.
Ah well.
Major kudos to all involved - I'm sure that it will get even better.
