At a loss...

I've just got a DK2. Works fine with the demo's and the configuration utility. Head tracking works etc etc.

I keep reading that You have to have it on extended mode for it to work in ED so it is.

The problem is that the image is MASSIVELY zoomed in and the middle is missing. I close my left and the right eye can see the right side of the screen but not the top or bottom and vice versa the other way round. Both eyes open and the effect is like being cross eyed. I've used all the versions of Runtime since 0.4, downgraded the Nvidia drivers like has been suggested.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the oculus drivers multiple times and still its not working.

The problem is that the Rift's screen isn't showing the characteristic 'Oval's in each eye, it's just showing the full image and treating the rift as a normal screen.

I've a Nvidia 960 as my GPU.

Thanks for any help.

Have you made sure that you are in fullscreen mode, with the correct monitor set up as output, and that 3d is set to Oculus? It sounds like you may be running it in a window which can cause problems.

Sounds like you haven't set the rift up properly for extended mode. direct to rift is perfect and always works... unfortunately developers seem to ignore how awesome this function is (or cant invest the effort to make it work) and use extended mode...

I use NVidia 353.38 and SDK v0.5.0.1 - I am having issues with low GPU usage and judder in supercruise (as are others)

to set extended mode (from memory)

turn off rift
set config utility to run in extended mode
turn on rift
open windows screen res settings
make oculus rift screen primary, 75hz @ 1080p, rotate to portrait position
use "shift+winkey+right" to move windows from the rift to your computer monitor

turn off the rift to have your computer revert to normal usage, turn rift on to restore this mode

also you have to go into elite dangerous graphics settigns and under "3d" choose "oculus rift" either speakers or headphones mode make sure its full screen.

the rift is a giant PITA to set up, you really have to go through the sticky thread about getting it to work and even after that there's some futzing around to do

The 3D option doesn't give Rift as a choice.

Okay, good, making progress then. When you use extended mode, and you open the Oculus config utility, does it detect your Rift? If it doesn't, you may have to change whether the DK2 is the primary monitor or secondary monitor from whatever it is at now.

If it DOES detect the Rift, and you launch ED and it still doesn't show Oculus as a choice in 3d..... what else could be wrong.

What version of the Oculus SDK are you using? You should be using 0.5.0.1 or newer (I recommend 0.5.0.1 though, though 0.6.0.1 is not nearly as bad as people make it sound)

Anyway, if your rift is detected but the option isn't there and you are on 0.5.0.1 or newer, you'll need help from someone else here because I haven't run into that problem.

I reinstalled 5.0.1 and its started to work now.........

Go figure

Just need to sort out the judder now

Thanks for your help guys.

That's a whole other pile of worms. One that I don't even worry about myself because I can barely run the game at 45 FPS (Nvidia GT 650M here). But it doesn't matter to me, I don't get sick from it and I'll happily play at whatever I can get my computer to cooperate at if it means I can live in space for a while. :)

I would try changing the DK2 input method. May be a simple case of using a different hdmi / dvi socket. Good luck

The "current" DK2 SDK is 6, but this doesn't work with a lot of Oculus enabled games (Elite included) so stick with 5 until you see Frontier state SDK 6 support added to Elite.
