At least wait to play powerplay before writing negatively about it

What is it with people who haven't got beta access to powerplay yet they post on here about how bad it is or how disappointed they are with it having only read the change log!

The change log to me looks awesome and cannot wait to play and give it a go.

Please wait for the full release before reviewing a product you haven't even played yet!

I think people need to give it time and get into the mechanics, there is a lot of content and it will require a lot of study to get into it. Well, I know that some people just want to jump in and pew pew ----------------------->SC ===============>CoD.

Oh, let them vent while we enjoy what's coming. It's just people whining that they want all without doing almost anything.

Nothing to see, move along.

Small amount of changes in a build --> Less complaints
Lots of changes in a build --> More complaints

Will always happen no matter what the changes are.

People don't like change... :D

There are some weird behaviours...your rep is falling to fast for example, which seems to be a bug, and the 10% value loss would work better if we had the ability to store chosen equipment just like we can store ships, but on the whole this is looking really promising IMO! :)

People have a right to declare they don't like something even before playing it; if you don't like the flavour of lemons, and lemons are listed in the ingredients of a product, whilst it might not be a noticeable flavour in the final product, pointing out that this isn't something you're comfortable with is absolutely logical and a sensible thing to do.

Honestly, these forums are atrocious for the amount of blind worship of the game and hatred for their fellow members of the community who may not be comfortable with the product as it's being cooked; and as a result I don't have much faith the Devs will get enough honest feedback to truly improve their game, and within a few weeks of being here, I've come to the conclusion I really wouldn't recommend these forums to anyone I know at all. They're just too close to feeling like a Cult than an actual community, and you should all be ashamed of your inability to accept even slight dissension from your own unrealistic emotional investments here.

What I don't understand is why people complain right after the patch was released? I mean do you really think it will be completely different game??? it will look the same, it will smell the same, however it will probably taste a bit different.

Constructive feed back is ok, complaining just to complain is kind of ridiculous.

So my advice would be, instead of "I don't like this PP, because it sucks" one should probably reason why.

You can use 5why if you don't know how to start.

Yet that's the problem, they're complaining based on assumptions of something they know little about and haven't tried in its release form. Also, in this case, they don't have to eat the lemon, they can ignore the lemon and stick with the chocolate cake. I was worried about the whole speed limit when docking thing but reading some posts it looks like it's probably not going to be the issue I thought it was. If it turns out to be an issue, I'll create a thread about it, but I'm not going to do that until I've actually played it and know for sure.

Another example, people are complaining about the rep dropping, as Tinman said, the current rep thing in beta may be a bug, looking at the update notes it was only meant to effect the extreme ends of your rep with a faction (ie: the buffer zone when allied or hostile) so I doubt most people would really notice a change. It may actually end up helping people who are currently hostile with a faction to get back to a more neutral position over time.

For my part, I'm very excited about it! Can't wait to finally fight Denton Patreus.

Long live the Emperor and his bloodline

I never said Powerplay was great I said the change log looks good as in FD have put lots of effort in trying to improve the game and fix things to which is good in my view.

I don't think you can get a feel for the new content though until you actually play it. You could say there are no lemons (yet, FD will continue to improve the game hopefully) but you might like it even without lemons because it has limes. Until you try it you cannot get the proper flavour.

I'm also not worshiping the game I haven't played in a month or two as i got bored and thought the game wasn't good enough and I put that on the forums to because I'd given the game a go and felt letdown. I'm hoping 1.3 is a great update and look forward to trying it and that is my point. It's like saying I don't like key lime pie but never tasting it.

Great name! In game I am CMDR Lysander :)

Some of us have been using the Beta. It doesn't look great at this point.
Not so much a lime pie, more of a half baked fish.

It is likely that bugs and poor game play options will make it into the 1.3 release despite the testers' efforts. That is the norm due to the overly short test duration.

Yo Flavourless, I'm happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but Elite Dangerous beta testers are the best backseat drivers of all time. OF ALL TIME!

For me, it looks like a really delicious cake almost ready to be eaten (once the beta bugs are fixed). I can't wait until Beta 1.3 becomes live :D.

What OP is getting at is that 99% of the ppl complaining about PP do not have a beta access

Trouble is unless someone tells me otherwise its very difficult to tell whether the post is from a beta tester or not. Perhaps when we post we should prefix with tester or non tester. I dont mind the negative posts as long as I know they are from testers.

The core game has moved forward, better sound, performance in SC at least for me is better and AI is harder. Reputation drop off looks bugged. Powerplay is intriguing, but is probably going to need balancing or a second pass based on my initial understanding, but I am reluctant to be critical until I can see it in the wild over a number of cycles. Their needs to be power rewards but they need to be attainable by all, not just those with the time to invest and the best kit. Loyalty to a power needs to factor in so that players adopt a power rather than flit from one to another. My suggestion would be a transaction tax for all transactions in the powers sphere of control that is divided at the end of the period between the powers members based on shares. I share being earned for each contiguous cycle period a player is in a faction. Extra shares to be awarded for contribution (merit points) in the current period. Any accrued salary can be spent on purchasing power rewards or converted to normal credits.

Good idea. Great idea even. does not even have to be that complicated. Give all players a bonus based on the powers overall points / number of players + small bonus for each week you are a member of that faction.
