Community Event / Creation ATC voiceover demo

Gutted, sorry if I got your hopes up!
Still, knock those demos out though, it shows Frontier how it should be done, and you never know they may change their mind.

we can but hope.

i dont know if station owned patrol ships would use secured chanels or if they would check in with STC , just to reasure visitors they were safe. i know you have already scripted , so i guess its more a theoretical question than a request.

Jeez, Brodie, don't be gutted. The referral was great and it was superb to find out definitively that they don't need this sort of service. The voiceover in the ED WIP demos is first-class and I totally understand that they've got this boxed off. That said, the feedback to my demos, such as your own, has been of great encouragement to me and you're right, you never know what might come of it down the line. So I'll keep creating these. I've wanted to create a video game voiceover portfolio for a long time and it's finally coming together, so I've everything to be greateful for. But don't be gutted at all. That Frontier have all their ducks in a row doesn't take away from the fact the community here has at least given me the thumbs-up for what I'm trying to do. For that I am very grateful indeed.

Thanks,
Paul

Interesting point, Greeboski. I think that's a distinct possibility and something that hadn't occurred to me. Whether or not patrol ships (cops) would be in the vicinity of the station at all times might be influenced by the socio-political/commercial status of the station. If you liken it to cities on Earth, you might see a lot more police cars cruising more crime-ridden cities than you would more law-abiding ones. Though I accept that's debatable, as law-abidance (is that even a word?) might itself come from a heavy presence of law enforcement. In this script, the setting is Lave's coriolis, so I suppose there could well be a police presence already in-flight in the area. And although when the controller in the script said 'dispatching law enforcement' I imagined that to mean the vipers we're being scrambled from the coriolis, I suppose it could be argued that they were being 'dispatched', or vectored, from another quadrant nearby. We don't ever hear the police radios, though I hadn't really thought about this too much, but yes, presumably, they'd be on another channel unless they needed to communicate directly with some of the traffic's pilots.

These are great details to consider, though, Greeboski!

Thanks,
Paul

Just want to say to you Paul that that is a very mature answer with a professional attitude. My guess is you will get there in the long run. Just keep trying. May I ask what age you are? I mean: if you're a youngster of about 20-25 any pro-audio studio would not hesitate for a minute to hire someone like you if they have a position open. Quality + Work ethos!! And if you're older? Good for you having some experience to show for ;)

Cheers!

Thanks, Voyager. I'm 43. I first played Elite in 1986 when I was 16 and I always loved the level of detail, so I'm trying to honour David Braben's skill for adding realistic elements to an unreal world but putting some level of realism in these demos. I've been recording voiceover for over 15 years now. Having been made redundant in 2009, I set up my own studio in Dublin and have thankfully been growing the business since. This is just one area that I wanted to get into. I mean, I love my job and I don't feel I work at all, but recording for games would be just like being a kid all over again.

Thanks a million,
Paul

Hahaha... so I had you figured all wrong, sorry man!
Seems you're 2 years older than I am

Anyway keep up the nice work! There's at least 20 years of enjoyment in it if you want to.

Ha ha, Voyager, my immaturity must be coming across in my posts. ;-) 20 years would be great, but the way things are going in Ireland (as a member-state of the disastrous Euro), we'll all be working well into our 70s and beyond. Better keep taking the Omega 3 oils. :D

Thanks a mill,
Paul
