Parks Atlantic City Boardwalk: 1968 Winter Construction Update: 6/5 Supports!

Hey Everyone, I have been being a little more active on Planet Coaster and messing around with old projects. Life can get a bit busy, but I do want to carve space and share my projects a little more often. One of my favorite projects is Pirate Reef Pier: AKA Atlantic City Boardwalk. It is a project from RCT3 back in 2008 that follows a timeline of a pier that goes through changes and competition on a boardwalk. A lot of ideas based off of a lot of US east coast boardwalks and their histories, and some ideas from me as well. It has always been a lot of fun to mess around with, I loved it. When Planet Coaster came out, I wanted to remake it and bring it into this platform. With better placements, no grid it made it perfect for really seeing my vision come alive. Along with cons such as when building takes longer to do compared to RCT3. I have been working on this over in shyguys world forum in this link. You can catch up on the previous seasons / years. But in this thread I will keep updating with current updates. I hope you guys enjoy the timeline project! Link to past updates

1968 Winter Construction Update: More supports!

A lot of progress has been made on Seaside Pier with this season's newest attraction in the making! It is true that they have quite a bit to catch up to with Pirate Reef pier and their Log Flume attraction. Lets check it out with some update photographs!

^ It most certainly looks like a roller coaster to me! One with steel supports in seems.

^ Quite a lot of steel in such a small foot print. It is true that being on a pier has its limitations. They can't build above the beach unless they apply for more permits. Atlantic City is a bit pricy with their beach these years.

^ Cranes place new segments of track above. Almost like a puzzle being put together.

^ A few steel forms lay along the pier on the beach, waiting to be placed.

Check out soon for more updates!

1968 Winter Construction Update: Finishing up

With the summer season coming very soon, I thought I would contribute a few more photographs of the progress on Seaside Pier. The new steel roller coaster is almost complete, lets get a little bit closer!

^ Closer indeed, you can see the backside of this new crazy contraction...

^ Defiantly very modern.

^ Looking north, the station building is almost complete.

^ Of course to our south, some love to Pirate Reef Pier which had their own new attraction they have built this past winter.

^ A mix of old and new. The Pirate Ship and in the distance the new coaster on Seaside Pier can be seen...

Soon enough, summer will be here. Stay tuned for opening day! Thank you everyone...

I want to see more of your pirate ship and the rest of the pier. Will there be a Bill Tracy dark ride like Whacky Shack? I miss the old Hunt's Pier and all of the rides are gone now, the log flume is in Iowa and the Golden Nugget track was reused in a new mine ride at Knoebel's. The Pirate Ship Skua was removed in 1989. There are Jungleland props, and Whacky Shack props and cars in Randy's Retro Arcade on the Wildwood boardwalk. Glad to see you back in Planet Coaster.

1968 Opening Day!!

That beautiful time when the sun is bright, and the temperature is just right. The sound of seagulls and the smell of fries and salt air on the Atlantic Ocean. Yes, that summer time when the rides come alive along the Atlantic City Boardwalk. That time when school kids and their families escape for the week and venture for a adventure! It is time to check out some of the new offered attractions this year!

^ Every year it seems like it is harder to get a parking spot. But I always do get one, eventually...

KZAe2mR.jpg

^ The sounds of screams and excitement can be heard from nearby Seaside Pier...

YFXuPJr.jpg

^ The same can be said over on Pirate Reef Pier. Both competing piers have added some major attractions...

gS6KsdH.jpg

^ This year, I have decided to head over to Seaside Pier first. I always endured the larger then life signage...

X2YrHLz.jpg

^ The Carousel was not open yet, it looked like they were still testing it...

iVkOKrI.jpg

^ The Paratrooper and Bumper Cars were very much open and crowded...

ZjqEMpO.jpg

^ The Fun Street Funhouse and Zipper were filled with patrons as well...

YE7BrRB.jpg

^ Seaside Pier has fun for all ages, the back houses Whirlpool and Flight. Two intense rides filled with thrill...

More soon!

1968 Opening Day: Part 2

^ Ah yes, the newest attraction to really check out on Seaside Pier...

^ Looking back to the west towards the boardwalk, the sun is quite bright...

^ Looking over to the south towards Pirate Reef Pier, the Pirate Ship and other attractions stand iconic...

^ And of course the Wild Mouse, a brand new steel roller coaster!

QDJtJxa.jpg

^ A little midway game off to the side adds more entertainment for guests that do not feel brave enough for the thrills of Wild Mouse...

Lets ride, shall we? Stay tuned for next update. ;)

1968 Opening Day: Part 3

We continue onto Seaside Pier's newest attraction: The Wild Mouse!

shPzUZG.jpg

^ Tons of blue colored metal and track full of fun and excitement!

el9Yu6w.jpg

^ After traveling up the lift hill, the track slightly zig zags around each corner making it feel as if you are going to tip over!

VIc3Ryp.jpg

^ Eventually leading to a decent drop downwards...

VoGPBAy.jpg

^ And some more drops await for you in the maze of steel you encounter...

nLHoCOn.jpg

^ As you finally catch your breath, the ride slows and you begin to head back towards the station...

NJHU34L.jpg

^ We survived The Wild Mouse. Now onwards to Pirate Reef Pier...

1968 Opening Day: Part 4

And onwards to Pirate Reef Pier we go, where we will find more fun and excitement!

JdhnANB.jpg

^ Walking along the boardwalk heading south we pass One Wave Place, a small motel with a parking lot pool in the front.

dUY3mVt.jpg

^ Passing by the Ocean Inn we finally see Pirate Reef's grand entrance!

sMGTtVE.jpg

^ Not too far away is the Pier's classic Meteor rollercoaster!

2Rv3CV1.jpg

^ The lines tell the story of it's continued popularity.

ZbtYyFc.jpg

^ Looking to the north we see a sea of other exciting rides ahead, including the Pirate Ship walkthrough fun house which is a can't miss.

More soon!

1968 Opening Day Part 6

As we continue into Pirate Reef Pier we soon discover a fun balance of rides for all ages!

WY19bae.jpg

^ For example, The Silver Bullet train ride. Fun for all families as your train guides around under Meteor and Underpass. Boardwalk Cafe also offers a nice selection of lunch options as well...

wHJ9bfH.jpg

^ In the distance, Roll O Plane and the Monster offer some fun for the thrill seekers...

L3tZgLE.jpg

^ The Devil's Inn is a typical portable darkride. This year the facade has been grayed out for some reason. I am not too sure what is going on with the ride, there are a few rumors that they may replace it...

fhSupyU.jpg

^ And of course the ultimate family ride on Pirate Reef Pier is Jungle Land. A ride full of fascination and excitement around every turn...

Lets ride it, next time! ;)

1968 Opening Day Part 7

When we last ended off Jungle Land was the next destination! And here we go!

0hE1fAa.jpg

^ This year Jungle Land has taken a bit of a different look thanks to the new Log Flume above.

zb7XB0D.jpg

^ It gives off a woodsy vibe to the ride, and some shade as well...

GFrVMuH.jpg

^ And if your lucky, you will get wet from the Log Flume splash!

lUauXoy.jpg

^ But of course the main thrill is the dangerous jungle animals and other creatures!

Stay tuned for more....
