Atmospheric landings would be a great addition to planetary exploration, but I've read many concerns about how hard it would be to implement something as complex and diverse as an Earth like world (ELW). Many have pointed that each world would have a totally different evolutionary history resulting in the developers having to make thousands of assets (flora and fauna) to accommodate each possible evolutionary branch. Alternatively F-dev could develop some procedural generation not unlike No Mans Sky which would be at least just as difficult. Now for my counter point, what if every ELW had earth's flora and fauna (mind you just a sample and not every species known to man) to simplify the asset creation. This works for most systems within the bubble because humans have been terraforming suitable worlds and I assume that includes seeding them with earth's plants and animals. The biggest problem with this idea is the case when explorers find ELWs out in deep deep space and it magically has pine trees and whitetail deer. However I'm ok with these being earthy too because almost every sci-fi ever made does this.
