Attacked by enemy power ship.

A cool thing happened today.

As I was leaving the CG station one of LYR's goons began to scan my ship. Now, this particular time my exit was slow and leisurely because I was looking at something on my 2nd screen instead of immediately lining up my jump and hitting the FSD. So, this guy was able to actually complete his scan for once (a complaint for another time about how easy it is to avoid/break a scan).

Anyway, once he completed the scan, he opened fire on me!

Not because I had PP cargo on board, or any valuables at all actually. My hold was completely empty. He just scanned me and started blasting because I was his enemy. Awesome!!

I've never had a powerplay NPC fire at me without me instigating, even if it's just because I'm simply an enemy in their territory.

I love it!! When did this change?

(please please please don't tell me it's always been this way and I just never knew that because scans are so easy to avoid that I inadvertently avoid them 99% of the time by just flying in a manner that I would describe as "not like a wet noodle")

Well, damn..

It's sad that I've gone this long actually thinking they were just passive... And I guess that apparently the only reason is because it's so easy to avoid/break a scan that I constantly avoid them by just flying with purpose.

From my experience, it feels like they turned this on, or at least ramped up the hostility of them when they launched the CG / Panther. Maybe included in the patch that was released that day.

it's... Interesting.

On one hand I do love the added level of intensity it can add.

On the other foot, It's tweeked a LITTLE too aggressive, and there are a few issues which I feel are slightly game breaking. (and should be easy fixes)

1. Stations: Power Sec Forces aren't official local powers. They don't have authority in the stations. Yet, they do not trigger station's security in the no-fire zones. A friendly station to me, given me docking permission and reminding us of no-fire zones, should be enforcing that EVEN on power security forces. End of story. let them hover around outside the no-fire zone, but being able to chase me shooting me the second I come out, or leave mines in the mailslot, or chase me into the mailslot shooting, without ANY station response is completely out of line with the rules established in the game already.

2. My carrier not defending me when being shot at when landing. This is my carrier. it's aligned to me, and me alone. the fact it's not defending me should result in every single one of those crew members being tossed out the airlock. as is, I'm heading to a carrier admin stations to replace everyone! (yes, it's roleplay purpose only, but it angers me)

3. popping into existence sometimes after you've already zoned in. sometimes directly in your path.

4. The sheer agressiveness. Last night, while trying to ferry things literally 1.5mm from planet to carier I got interdicted EVERY TIME. I got attacked by two or more forces on every landing to both surface and carrier. I went 10 for 10 for being attacked before I just said "screw it" and turned the game off. That's never what a dev wants a gamer playing their game to do either.

Sadly this over-aggressiveness, and inability to fight back has me turning off Power play 2.0. I like the Power Sec force. it's a good addition. The current levels of aggressiveness and power is not good though. it's game breaking and will ruin many players experience unless it's brought to actually honour the rules of the game itself.

Breaches of the No Fire Zone are only a fine-level offence, and an NPC acquiring a fine is basically irrelevant to anything you might interact with them about. Try shooting down enemy power ships in the NFZs of one of your own systems.

If you hit something you're not authorised to hit within the NFZ, that's a bounty, so make sure you're not using the station or another ship as a backstop when you do that test, and remember that the inside of the station is a "Strict" NFZ where firing at all is a bounty offence.

(The NFZ - other than the Strict NFZ - is mainly important for also applying the speed limit than for anything related to actual weapons fire. Poorly named, but the behaviour here is not inconsistent)

No, it is definitely changed. I've noticed same in current CG at least 3 times or more. And never before. I'm flying empty to LYR station for Titanium, have message "You are in wrong place", then my PCII loosing some shield during Auto Dock.

But frankly saying, I was pretty sure that this is something personal and happens only because I've kicked some of LYR NPCs' as rear Thrusters in the Name of Princess during corresponding CG.

Power police will only appear and bother you in Stronghold systems, and those are pretty rare (especially with decay now placing a severe requirement to progress). Maybe that's why you haven't noticed it before, I think this has been the first CG at a Stronghold, or at least the first in a long time.

In the preview server it could happen in any level of power-controlled system, and not just near stations. But when PP2 released on Live it already had this near non-existence of power police.

I'm sad to learn that
