attacked from behind by a commander pretending to be on same side

soooo, I'm not here crying or anything I know that unfortunately some people find enjoyment out of backstabbing others in a game so that they lose all progress on missions and get an insurance fee (/cough) we can skip all that.. The thing that has gotten my goat is that I have found out today that you can only block a player who is your friend??????!! This is outrageous imo and really needs a fix.. A lot of the time if you get grieved you do not have time to target that player and block them (if this is possible), so it would be VERY handy indeed if we could have some sort of blocking function that we can use in past tense.. Or why tell us the commander name who killed us at the death screen?

PS: I wont name and shame but if you PM me I will give out the players details and the system it happened in, placing a personal bounty of 50k credits on this guys head if screenshot at 0% hull is provided :)

50k cr is too low, increase and I will hunt him :p

he he :) Sorry my friend but I'm not too rich :) I was in beta and head start and only just got to a cobra due to my play style.. Most nights I break even unless something like what happened today happens :D But that Goes with the territory I suppose I understand and accept that.. Have you ever tried blocking a player?

Cowards like that ruin the game and is the reason why many of us dropped out of all. I wish the game mechanics punished these prats accordingly :(

Also I think you mean grieFed not grieVed, they did not mourn you. Sorry for being a language but words have meaning for a reason.

Also he didn't grief you, he just betrayed you. I have a friend I played bf1942 with who used to do this to me, he though it was hilarious, we used to unplug his mouse as payback. Ah, good times.

There are other ways.
which other ways?

indeed
"Block Player" only blocks comms, not the player from your instance.

that's a shame we need a way to block commanders from being visible this would also attract more players back to open I think..

Thanks for that, darn spellchecker put grieved lol, the greifing specifically wasn't intended to mean this incident just in general when you greifed there should be a way to deal with it yourself..
.

A few days ago was busy doing something or other, when a couple of commanders surprised me ( I wasn't really paying attention ). They both said hi and we parted company.

There is no substitute for open play if you want some PVP ( and don't mind some extra lag ), but for everything else, private group is where it's at.

I have played in open since the very beginning because so far the commanders I've met that play in this "dastardly" way are few and far between :D However I don't think solo should be the "end of" solution, I think we need a better block mechanism.

Sounds like that may have been me. If it was, I was on the opposing faction. If it was me I offer no apologies, it's called a war zone for a reason.

Atlantis, light conflict zone next to kimura station?

no no not there bud, If the commander was on opposing faction I wouldn't have posted and thought about this blocking mechanism..

Sooo not to worry, or not worry :)

Oh good, I didn't want to think I'd ruined someone's day with a misunderstanding. Sounds like the guy that did that to you has no ethics. Some people get their kicks in strange ways eh?

You'd better get used to this, as it will probably happen a lot more in 1.2 with pirates offering escorts for traders and then stabbing them in the back later.
