Attacked near a Coriolis Station

While flying unarmed ships (or effectively unarmed ships), I've had a couple of run-ins in Power Play flying on Open this week.

The first I was using a Viper III to run stuff into a system and was intercepted and politely told to get out of 'my' system. When I didn't obey orders I was intercepted again - this time he was firing lasers ... but I boosted away until I could low-wake out. Later, I had a brief conversation with the guy, 'cause he had been honourable and respectful, giving fair warning.

The second was tonight at Poisson Orbital in Kappa. This time I was in an Anaconda (I know, the Viper would have been better), and was running some cargo out of system - mostly commodities, but some PPlay stuff too. The 'conda was equipped for mining, but otherwise, unarmed.
Even on the pad I could see that there was an armed human around so knew there was a risk ... but my course had been set - my task was to high wake out of there.
Anyway, I take off, exit the station , and start boosting for home, and - a first for me near a station - violet flashes start going off around my ship.

His bounty? Only one thousand!??! My repair costs were over two hundred thousand. Still, that's better than a rebuy insurance claim.

You said you were doing Powerplay activities. If you're hauling in PowerPlay, it doesn't matter how your ship is equipped or not. PP is not a medium for emergers syndrome but at same time, if you're doing anything PP related at all, anything they do is fair if they are pledged to the power your activities are opposing.

Honestly it sounds like the dude was trying to be mega soft on you. The location also doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter if you're in their expansion attempt or your home system. Often times you will see people try camping the star of an opposing home system to prevent people from picking up fort packages.

I agree though that their bounty being less than your rebuy is dumb. edit: actually, on second thought, that would be a great way to get make powerplay defense untenable. I think PP cargoes should mitigate that to some great level.

Hmmm. Seems my tone was too negative - sorry.
I had two run ins. One with a particularly polite pilot. The other with a guy prepared to attack near a space station - something that would get me chopped by the station.

These were two worthy pilots and the first two PvP events where I survived.
