Attacked with a weird IMBA weapon

Recently I got interdicted by an AI Eagle with the Pilot Fed ranking of Deadly. What was odd in the encounter was the weapon the Eagle was using. It seemed to be a very fast plasma accelerator that was impossible to dodge.

Wrecked my shields and the Eagle got my hull down to 51% of my Cobra. Normally an AI based Eagle isn't that much of a problem.

What I really couldn't get my head around was; How can such a tiny ship wield such a powerful weapon?

I've used that one in the past and it did too much damage to shields to be a railgun, I think.

I've used that one in the past and it did too much damage to shields to be a railgun, I think.

Sounds were the same as the hammer. So it was probably that. Isn't it a bit weird to have such a weapon on such a small ship?

@Sleutelbos: Impossible since the other 2 weapons were scattershot weapons fired continuously. It was a single weaponpoint hitting me hard.

Had exactly the same encounter earlier - also with a Fed Deadly eagle. Couldn't believe how much of my Vulture's shields it shredded before I had the chance to return fire!

The Imperial hammer is a class 2 weapon and the advanced plasma is class 3 , so it can't have been either of those on an Eagle. As Lawhunter says there is a rare npc weapon called a plasma burst, so it could have been that.
