ATTENTION DEVS! please do not forget about this!

We players know about SLF lag. It is something that has been asked to fixed over and over ad nauseam. Fixing this issue would go long way to help balancing the ship classes from a pvp and pve stand point. How? Well in a pve situation were more that one player are involved, SLF can be launched(IF the lag is fixed...)with out worrying about lagging an instance AND will increase group DPS which will aid ships during combat operations. In pvp situations, a lag less SLF will help larger ships like the big three fight the dreaded FDL, giving the FDL a small, hard to hit target to worry about that will help apply more DPS in both wing fights and 1v1s. Fixing this will also eliminate lag glitches caused buy having SLF out when i shi is landed AFTER Oddessy. Imagine a player on foot rubberbanding all over the place on foot because his SLF is out... Thats what happens when the SLF is out now... Lets prevent that glitch before it happens and fix SLF lag.
 
I’ve had my SLF cause lag in busy Open instances, but never in smaller Group situations. It’s a little disheartening, as the extra DPS is integral to my fighter carrier builds so it does somewhat restrict my choice of ships for certain activities.

Currently though I don’t treat it as game-breaking; if I want to play the SLF game and deploy my long-serving NPC (he’s earned every credit he’s took from me in the fires of Ackwada) I use Solo or PG for that game session. Of course, if it were to be fixed I’d be a very happy goomba indeed! Does the lag only affect other players when it’s deployed with NPC crew or multicrew players as well? Is it related to the large number of command inputs to issue orders to the NPC? Finally, does it also still occur if you fly the fighter yourself and give the NPC control of the mothership (same issue with command inputs perhaps)?
 
SLF causes lag? Honestly wouldn't know since can't say I've ever been in an instance with more than one ship using them other than npcs. Have 2 myself that I generally always have manned with MC when BH though, hmm.
 
Lag is an instancing issue rather than an SLF issue. There are many scenarios where it occurs.

As I understand the situation lag can be a general problem that SLFs make worse.

My experience in CZs in a wing without SLFs is usually no lag, but once the SLFs come out, especially if there are multiple, lag issues can become more noticeable.

It may be confirmation bias though.

I probably phrased that badly, but I meant that it is more of an issue than just with SLFs. Too many NPCs (e.g. when you get multiple players around busy locations, each of them bringing their own collection) and even too many lights on with SRVs affects the game. Whether lag or FPS drops, the effect on the game is the same.

I'm just hoping that there are improvements in this area for Odyssey. More than 12 SRVs in an instance would be good too. :)
