Attention, Elite Players With Issues In-Game

The main reason I switched from PC gaming to console gaming is because this was true for a lot of PC-based games back in the day, and from what I read, it still is to some extent. I love the ease of just turning my console, selecting the game I want, and playing it, no worries about device drivers or OS version or background processes or INI files or per-game DRM that breaks everything else. These days I just push a button and enjoy the game I want to play, unless that game is Elite Dangerous, which is a broken mess, but at least I know that it's not my fault (despite the yahoos who love to tell me otherwise).

Most of these issues are really non-issues now. It ain't like it was even 5 years ago.

To each their own...but if you gave PC a fair trial these days...it would definitely give you that plug and play feeling.

If you're referring to the PS4 version of ED on your PS4-slim with it's locked hardware set (perhaps even a different factory make than others) I can understand Duck, where you've mentioned certain graphical bugs which according to you occur under certain lighting and texture conditions and where the PS4 ED version doesn't have sliders or options for shadows like the PC ED options do. But to say ED in general is a broken mess, I can't agree there where the current patched version is the best I'd ever seen of the game. Also of the PS4 playerbase, only a few are stopping to mind a few minor bugs which aren't game breaking. If it was technically that bad, then most current ps4 cmdrs would not be able to play and progress in most of the gameplay.

Agreed. Duck needs to move on. Frontier probably can't spare the time needed to fix the ED version for one specific PS4-slim make. I'd think it's more Sony's fault for probably outsourcing hardware production makes for the PS4-slim make that Duck has. Most computers today, even non-gaming ones can run ED adequately. And as Duck mentioned Sony is already pushing their own brand of required online subscription or drm, so it doesn't matter much now where one often uses PC steam/origin uplay/etc. for most games now.

Haven't had a chance to play on pc much since the most recent update, but have played several hours on my Xbox one x, and haven't had a single crash.or any difficulty with servers. Albeit I haven't played in a few days, but my experience appears to be a polar opposite of some here.

I was going to reply to this nicely, then I read this:

That's just utter rubbish. First, the "a few minor bugs which aren't game breaking" includes a very major bug (so major it's been made sticky) that causes PS4s to hard crash, requiring it to be unplugged to be reset. I've experienced this bug myself, but so have many, many others. While the other bugs may be less "game breaking" than this literal breaker, to say "the current patched version is the best I'd ever seen of the game" flies in the face of numerous threads and bug reports for all platforms. You just sound like a trolling apologist at this point.

And then you play the "you have a 'special' PS4" card, which is laughable because not only have all my bug reports been substantiated by other players, no other game in my library has any problems running on my "special" PS4.

The only thing I agree with you is that yes, it's time to move on (though I'm not quite there yet in my sig), not because my PS4 is broken or the Internet was built during WWII or any other lame excuse you yahoos peddle in a laughable attempt to vindicate Frontier, but rather because Frontier is the one that's broken, and until that changes, nothing will change.

BTW, Bravo Zulu on proving the OP's point :p
