Attention n0Obs

I want to try something new. I have the ship I wanted, kitted out the way I wanted, So I've run out of things to do.

You have:

A: A crap ship
B: Not enough credits
C: Not enough credits and a crap ship
D: All of the above

I have:
A: A big ship and lots of spare credits
B: See A

So, if you're into Combat and you'd like A rated Imperial clipper as backup PM me

It's time I made some friends

I'd offer to aid in your pursuits but I'm in a cutter and im still trying to turn around..

LOL, I posted the maneuverability issues of the cutter as a bug. I am waiting for reply to see official response for the FD team. Based on the stats (mass + thrusters' size), It should handle better and not worse than the T-9. Let's see what they answer.

I try and do this all the time cos I have my FDL, which is almost A rated and fancied being a combat instructor. Lol

I hung about in Everate for about 2 hours hailing random newbies.
I got 1 response in that time and he wasn't interested.

I wasn't even in my intimidating FDL I was in my randomly created "A Rated DBS combat taxi"

Why aren't people interested in help?

Ah see you're making the false (yet reasonable) assumption that all modules have a logical relationship to ship stats when instead most of them are hardcoded in design.

Occasionally I will drop into Lave, and see if anything is going on. I did so today, and came across some new guys in haulers and eagles.. I said hello, as I usually do, and they immediately ran... admittedly I was in my Corvette.. but sheeesshhh, do I smell that bad?? lol

But you cant blame them, especially with the usual crowd Lave tends to draw.... and yes.. you know who you are!! ;)

A friend of mine and I took a more direct route with some newbies in the LHS starter around Eravate. We interdicted most players we could find and then proceeded to try and get their opinion of the game so far, see if they needed help with anything or if they would like to make some quick money, shadowing us in a Hazardous RES or something.

Most ran. A few fought, or tried to fight as much as you can with a sidewinder against twin FDLs using prismatic shields, though we didn't fight back. Just waited. Surprisingly enough, only one person disconnected on us. Most were quite nice and took what limited advice we could offer before we went about our business.

This is the equivalent of going down to the coast in DayZ to help new spawns, sooner or later someone is going to hit you over the back of the head with a spade : )

Ok, let me put this the other way round: I am (quite) new, and neither I nor my ship are combat oriented. When reading up on ED in the forums here, I read a lot about people who hang around newbie areas or popular trade spots, shooting up other players for the lulz. So, so far, I'm staying in solo or Mobius (although, at the place I'm at the moment, that doesn't make any difference). When I get interdicted by an NPC, I submit and high-wake.

My problem here is that all my credits are bound in my ship and my cargo (when trading/missions) or exploration data. One mistake (ok, three ATM), and I'm back to square one (i.e. a Sidey). When I get some more credits so I can actually afford making a few mistakes (and perhaps try my hand at PvP), I might take you (or someone else) up on that offer. At the moment - too much risk.

Imagine me, coming back to the bubble with several weeks (or months) worth of exploration data on my ship. I take you up on the offer and ask you to shadow me, when I enter the bubble, to a convenient port where I could sell that data. But it turns out that you just want some target practice (and honestly, that's all what my ship and I are currently good for in combat). If I get interdicted by an NPC, I can usually run. But I have very little time for that, so not really a chance to start a conversation. If I let a fully equipped Cutter/Corvette or similar heavy come up to close range, I'll probably explode before I even manage to hit the thrusters. An exploration ship has _weak_ shields (if at all).

A suggestion - if you want to put a bit more effort into that: start a group/guild of 'good guys'. Perhaps organized (ok, that's probably the wrong word here...) along the lines of the Fuel Rats. We have player pirates, griefers and worse scum - why not a players guild of watchmen or bodyguards?
