Attracting Pirates for the kill missions. Any tips?

Been lottering in an Anarchy system now for an hour, cruising in SC between the Nav and the station. At stand still close to the Nav and station in SC as well as normal space.

Not a bite or nibble.

How do I attract pirates?

Also go to the Nav Beacon and fight Wanted ships there or, if available, cruise around a Resource Site and do the same.

I never take pirate missions in an anarchy system. Everyone is "clean", no one is wanted, and the only time I did this, I kept killing npcs that were engaging in pirating me, and never got credit for a kill. I got a kill warrant scanner and that didn't change things...it was a long time ago so it may have changed now...but I just dropped the mission and stuck to patrolled systems with a resource extraction site in a planetary ring...loads of pirates there.

I tend to kill my speed and pop into USS that spawn around 500 km from my ship if there's no nav beacon or RES. Most of my income is from Bounty Hunting, so I always have a KWS equipped on my combat ship.

In anarchy systems, everyone will show up as clean, including those actually wanted. You have to use the warrant scanner on them, and those that show up as wanted after will count to the kill count. (geez, that sounded redundant at the end, no?)

"Count toward the objective" instead, perhaps? I forgot to mention the KWS in my earlier post, so I edited it and you beat me to it.

Thanks for the tips, the gold seemed to work a treat. Scored a hat full. The hard part was holding the lock long enough for the scanner to complete. Takes three times as long as the beam to strip the shields.

After being interdicted 10 times, each one showing as clean since the system was anarchy, the kill contract for 6 is still listed in the transaction tab.

I have gone back to the originating station but no option to collect or complete the contract.

Oh well, nice break from trading.

The pirate missions are better outside of Anarchy systems. Everyone wanted counts towards the pirate count. It seems when you do it in an Anarchy system you have to catch someone in the act of being a pirate in order for it to count towards the goal.

Sometimes you just have to.

If' I'm looking for a pirate, i put some junk in the trunk and just cruise in SC real slow. When I USS pops up in I go. Cruising real slow close the the star will get an interdiction started.

Wait, you mean you didn't score a single kill towards contract completion in 10 interdiction/kills?

Are you sure you were hunting in a system named in the contract? Some system names are very similar to each other.

I did some of these this weekend in an anarchy system nav point. The bounty hunter missions would not work at all (even in a neighboring system, even with a bounty), but the pirate missions worked fine.

Do you mean there that not one ship tried to scan you with some cheesy catch phrase? You are using a KWS right? Everyone will appear clean in an Anarchy system.

Look for USS once inside pirates will scan you...note not all USS's have pirates so it may require several entries into USS's
Most, if not all missions are based in the USS system it is what it is for.
Nav points are more low intensity bounty hunting sites with resource points more of a more a high intensity

Missions = USS

I was interdicted ten times, and K-scanned each one.

Doubled checked the system too.

It's ticked past the timer now and I'm in the Maia system doing some sighting.

Cheesy chat from each and every one of them.

Still, had fun. First real effort in pirate hunting.
