Hi everyone, I am looking for a good source for a couple of engineering data types that come under the 'Materials' heading in-game.
From what I have read, these were items released when Engineers became part of game, but were never used until a more recent update. Hence, like many people, I have some of them but have no idea when or where they came from!!
I need them to do some KWS upgrades and other scanner manipulations with Tiana Fortune, but I have heard things about them being needed for other blueprints as well, not that I have looked into this. Also, I am not sure how high I want to go with upgrades to the KWS anyway due to pinging 'wanted' ships, but I think it is a matter of trial and error to be honest.

2. Adaptive Encryptors Capture
So, having looked into this online on here and other sources, I am led to believe that they can be found in surface scan operations and as mission rewards ... however, after having looked in all manner of stations [in all manner of states etc. ...] in the last ten days or so, I am yet to see a single one as a mission reward! This tends to be supported by the community as well.
So, I am resolved to begin looking in surface scans, but can anyone explain which type, where, and so on please, as if speaking to a monkey, as I have got myself confused with exactly what type of installation I am going to, let alone which structure it is that I have to be scanning to get them!! Or am I running a combination of structures, like I did on base security networks whilst looking for MEF a long time ago, which ironically I am now seeing in mission rewards!!
Just a basic explanation of where to go and what to scan etc will be great thank you, and will be utterly awesome!! I look forward to being able to make much quicker scans and then not losing out on wing bounties because my KWS takes too flippin' long to complete a simple scan!
