Fiction Audible.com

I do hope they are published to Audible as I use their app on my smartphone as my job is as a commercial driver so I rarely have the time to read anything during the week. Just won't bother to ask about release dates.

As I understand it, because Fantastic Books Audio is a new venture they have to create a new account with Audible.com to be able to get on there.... And new accounts require there to be five audiobooks in the collection.

Now, as luck would have it, there are five FBA audiobooks, but only Tales From The Frontier is presently released, so they'll all go on audible sometime next year once they're all finished and out there.

As for samples, TFTF ran interviews with our actors, Toby Longworth and Penelope McDonald, each of these interviews includes an audio sample of one of their readings from our book.

Penelope MacDonald: Interview / Audio Sample
Toby Longworth: Interview / Audio Sample

Does anyone know of an iOS audiobook 'reader' app that'll work with the MP3 files fantastic have released, and which changes the l<< button function to rewind 10/20/30 seconds, rather than the default (skip to start of track/cue if held)
That's crucial imo for a safe listen whilst driving. The audible app allows for this, but only for their own format

To further clarify what I mean, if you miss some lines of spoken text (common when, say at a junction or paying attention to signs and traffic - there are similar parallels even if listening on foot), it's important to easily be able to skip back a few seconds in a way that doesn't dangerously take your attention off the road
Holding down the cue button is really bad for this - at first you barely skip a word or two; hold it down more than a few seconds on the other hand and before you know it you can skip back far further than intended - when you need to focus attention on the road rather than on cueing this becomes a significant issue.

Tapping the button and being taken back to the start of the track is no fun, especially if you're many minutes into that track (even for 3 minute long tracks found on some audiobook CD's that can still be quite a way back and can really break enjoyment of the story if you have to do this frequently)
The audible app changes the l<< function so you can tap to rewind a set number of seconds (user defined, 10 - 30s). This solves the above issue but it'll clearly be some months at least until audible specific versions will be available
So going back to my request above does anyone know of an iOS app that bestows the same effect when listening to an mp3 audio(book) file ?

Dare I say it... 'Soon.'

Seriously, it will not be much longer for Reclamation and Mostly Harmless.

Cheers,

Drew.

Oh awesome! With any luck it will be pre-February so I have something to listen to on my upcoming North America road trip.

Ninja'd, CMDR!

I was just about to post that up. :)

Anyway - As has already been discovered. Elite Reclamation is now available on Audible. It's the same fantastic audio production as has been available from FBP over the last year, full of Tony Longworth character voice genius (other SF claims include Star Wars and Doctor Who) and features the real sound effects from Elite: Dangerous itself. It's 11 and a half hours of quality storytelling, even if I do say so myself.

It's the perfect accompaniment to long voyages in the void, so leave the faded glory of Lave and the old worlds behind and look to new Frontiers. You won't regret it.
