AUDIO: is it really supposed to sound like this?

So, we reached 1.2 finally, but I still have doubts my ED sounds the proper way.
I wonder if your experience is the same as mine (you hear the sounds like I do in this video) or I've had some sudden audio problems at the same time 1.1 has been released, causing me not to hear the good audio I was used to hear pre 1.1.
My concerns are focused on the high distortion and peaks I hear when boosting, charging FSD and jumping. I also hear almost ultrasonic trebles, like hisses, fizzling.
I'm sorry I tested this only with the Clipper, it's my only ship.
If somebody who flies a Clipper that "sounds OK" wants to post his video, it would be appreciated. Even some devs, at this point.
Thank you.

Sounds like you're flying a washing machine that's about to jump out the window. But try flying an Asp, it's a deflating balloon.

Sounds exactly like mine...

1st Afterburner ignition sounds "normal" - any fast follow-up Afterburner operation while already at speed will give you that different SFX ;)
(I haven't had the need to repeatedly hammer A/B so often in quick succession, though *g*)

Bare in mind - it's a large Ship and by repeatedly hammering A/B you're basically torturing it...

Dunno if they changed much about the clipper sound in 1.2, sold mine a day before 1.2. But in general, yes - thats exactly what a clipper sounds and one of the things why i loved it so much, besides its looks and overall feeling. For me it perfectly suits the engine with its great accelaration and speed. Its like a beast taking a deep breath before it brings you to max speed in no time.

I like it.

The imperial clipper reminds me of clan technology from mechwarrior, enough of a reason to join the dark side temporarily.

Oh, for that you have to take the other junction leading you to Federation space. Plenty of pretenders and hypocrites over there :D

I hear that static when my FSD is charging as well. It's really annoying. I'm still trying to tune it out.

Right now I'm out exploring in an asp but it happens with all ships i think ...

Is it an issue with anyone else or is it only those that wear headphones? I use Logitech G930's.

Yep - that sounds about right for the Clipper. The Clipper boosting is one of my favourite sounds in the game. Somehow frameshift has never sounded quite as good as it did in pre-release.

I don't know. I remember pre 1.1 way cleaner and overall better than this. I hear it kind of compressed and peaky/distorted. Not sure if it is correct.

The high treble fx are intentional, I think. The fizzing and crackling sound "artificial" to me not the effect of distortion. Certainly the audio in the youtube upload is not clipping at all on playback, but that's been heavily postprocessed as part of the upload. To precisely reproduce what you hear I'd have to hear it "live" through your rig not processed via youtube through mine. If we're going to share sound samples for the purpose of analyzing defects probably the best way to do it would be to post them somewhere like dropbox or g-drive, making sure they were encoded using a lossless format. The fidelity of the audio to the original recording on a youtube video is pretty abysmal.
