Audio Option: Disable all sound effects OUTSIDE the cockpit.

For those of us who prefer realism over sensory input, may I ask that you allow us to disable all sound effects that happen outside of atmosphere, but not the ones that are inside?

For instance, you would be able to hear other ships activities while inside a station, but now while outside of one, as the stations have atmosphere.

But while in deep space, you would only hear things hitting the canopy, the ambience of the interior of your ship, and the muffled sounds of your engine transmitting vibrations through the hull and into your cockpit's atmosphere.

Likewise, weapons would be muffled as they are outside the canopy, but still transmit some weak vibrations into the cockpit atmosphere.

This would make for some epic "Interstellar" or "2001" style moments as you can see things happen, such as explosions, but not hear them, creating a void of sound that makes the visuals more stressful.

Anyone with me on this?

Just like how modern cars use the stereo system to input false engine noise, your ships computer plays sounds so you know what is happening around you. I would imagine they have that or people would crash all the time.

The weirdest requests for the sake of immersion. I'm actually not with you on this one. I wouldn't be against it but I do think there are plenty of other things to worry about first.

I'm not opposed to there being an option, but I personally wouldn't use it. Try muting your game audio and get into a firefight. It makes combat tough.

Maybe if you could filter external audio - like it was underwater.

Options are always good. I wouldn't want it myself but I can see why you might. I find the external sounds invaluable in combat for spacial awareness.

So basically what you want is the sound that happens when atmosphere is gone and running on lifesupport, but without the breathing of life support, because there the rumble of engine and fire of weapons is remarkably different. Definitely would be an interesting option.
