Audio Output selection for Elite? Let me choose where to send the games audio please.

I recently purchased a video capture card to enable myself to stream and record footage of Elite and have started sharing videos on YouTube and on rare occasion I stream on Twitch. I've had my capture card for nearly two months and I've barely used it. When asking myself why this is the case the answer I gave myself is that I can't separate Elite's audio from all the other applications I use that don't allow me to select which device to send audio to.

This is a primarily a problem with web browsers and media applications like Spotify. Anyone who plays Elite for the majority of their free time is usually multi-tasking in some way. I have OBS Studio set up to record just the visuals from Elite, but I can't control the audio in the same way.

Basically what I want to do is simple: I want to be able to tell Elite to send its audio to a specific windows recognized "Playback Device" of my choosing. I want to do this so that I can record gameplay at any moment and be able to guarantee that the recording will not be contaminated by any other sound source, whether it's windows alerts, music, voice chat, impromptu web browser video/audio adverts etc.

I've done extensive research to try and find a software solution to this problem and I've found some solutions (CheVolume, Audio Router and some others not worth mentioning) but they are very hacky and out dated and tend to break the audio of other programs.

We don't necessarily need the option for this in game. But we do need it. I found an audio options file in the game directory named "AudioConfiguration.xml". The file doesn't seem to contain support for output device selection. So, Frontier, if you could either reveal options I can use in this XML file to achieve selection of a non-default playback device, or add functionality for this and enable the option in this file I would be greatly appreciative of this, and I'm sure other content producers would as well.

After all, content producers within the community are your your marketing and advertisement. So far I've had over 10 amazing recordings of Engineers gameplay that have been completely ruined due to audio contamination and if we got this capability directly with Elite it would really help those of us producing content to reliably capture and be able to use those infrequent rare moments in more media to advertise the game we all love so much.

I'm not the first one to ask for this... But I couldn't reply to this thread as it's too old: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=56138

I tend to use a outside Media player like Winamp. With a keyboard with a media play controls. It work out great.

I found a program capable of selecting audio output per application, but i completely forgot it's name.

CheVolume maybe? Could be a different application entirely. Lol

I no longer have it due to my pc being incapable of recording video. Lol
