Australian Flora suggestions

A bunch of australian plants to consider :) I would love to see more plants to use!

Scientific name: Eucalyptus camaldulensis
Common name:River Red Gum
Location:Found in a variety of areas, grows best around river ways and lower regions.
Distribution:Australia wide - very common species
Notes: Food source for Koalas, this is one of the 70 species the koala will eat. Flowers provide nectar for hundreds of species of birds, insects and marsupials. Grows between 20 - 45 meters (60-148 ft)

Scientific name: Eucalyptus tereticornis
Common name: Forest Red gum, Blue gum or red irongum
Location: Commonly found in all areas of australia inland and coastal
Distribution: native to eastern Australia and southern New Guinea
Notes: Food source for Koalas, this is one of the 70 species the koala will eat. Flowers provide nectar for hundreds of species of birds, insects and marsupials. Grows between 20 - 50 meters (60-164 ft)

Scientific name: Callistemon viminalis
Common name: Bottle Brush
Location: can grow in all areas of australia, hundreds of species are adapted to a variety of terrains and biomes.
Distribution: Australia wide - very common species, native to the coastal regions of Queensland however bottle brush species grow even in the most arid regions of central QLD and WA
Notes: Used as a common gardening highlight, this species is very common in australian gardens and zoos. Flowers provide nectar for hundreds of species of birds, insects and marsupials.

Scientific name: Grevillea pteridifolia
Common name: Darwin Silky oak
Location: This species and many other grevilleas are cultivated and developed into subspecies like Gevillia Honey gem which are then grown in many australian gardens and zoos. The Grevillia is a very heat hardy species that can handle long dry spells.
Distribution: Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland
Notes: Grevillea pteridifolia generally grows as a large shrub to small tree. Flowers are long and full of nectar, the flowers grow up to 17cm long.

Common name: Spinifex grass
Location: Inland regions, mostly desert areas.
Distribution: Desert regions and bushland regions of australia
Notes:this grass is very hard, grows in a tightly bunched circle and very painful to touch. However this grass is a native safehaven for reptiles, birds and marsupials, and (for god knows what reason) botanical gardens and zoos do grow this species for native animals.

Scientific name: Melaleuca alternifolia
Common name:Tea Tree
Location: found near coastal areas and inland water areas
Distribution: occurs in southeast Queensland and the north coast and adjacent ranges of New South Wales where it grows along streams and on swampy flats, and is often the dominant species where it occurs.
Notes:Melaleuca alternifolia is a small tree to about 7 m (20 ft) with a bushy crown and whitish, papery bark.

Scientific name: Eremophila subfloccosa
Common name:Emu Bush
Location: This genus grows in sandy soils, gravel, clay, loam and laterite on undulating plains, margins of salt lakes and disturbed roadsides.
Distribution: mostly in the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia and the semi arid areas of Western Australia
Notes: It is a low, spreading, many branched shrub 0.5 to1 m in height by 1-2 m wide.

Scientific name: Lomandra longifolia
Common name:Spiny-head Mat-rush, Basket Grass
Location: Can grow in a range of sandy soils, in swamps and wet places to the montane zone on banks of creeks, rocky hillsides, cliffs and open forests.
Distribution: native Australia wide except for the Northern Territory and Western Australia
Notes: They can grow from 40cm up to 1m long and 8-12mm wide and are usually taller than the flowering stem. Leaf bases are broad with yellow, orange or brownish margins and the tips of the leaves are prominently toothed. Very common species used as a garden filler in Australia
