Authority vessel quirks and the cobra.

So far ive had a blast with my "freagle" and so far ive found that the best way to make cash so far is bounty hunting which brings me to my first point.

Sometimes when attacking wanted vessels local authorities get hostile to me and shot me despite i haven't done anything ilegal and i don't have any bounties on me nor fines.
I haven't retaliated from such attacks from the authorities as they are clean and i don't want to get a bounty on me when i can just jump into supercruise and return to the nav point/resource extraction clusterf**k (are they bugged or are they always so crowded?) This can be rather annoying as it interrupts a bounty claiming rampage and can sometimes cause hull damage when a combat turns harder than expected.

Another point is that i have mustered up enough money to upgrade up from my eagle and im thinking of getting the cobra, ive found a high tech high pop refinery station where they sell cobras for 370k and im planing of buying the cobra but keep the eagle and refit it to try out mining (and keep it around just in case i miss its agility).

I would like to know if there is anything special i should know about the cobra (is the agility loss from the eagle to cobra really bad?) and if there is any way to stop the authorities for getting angry at me for no reason.

The hostility issue is down to factions. Even system authority vessels (SAVs) are members of factions and you can check these under Contacts in your left UI. When you kill a member of a faction any SAVs (or other ships) that are members of that faction view it as a murder and may retaliate. Obviously their faction didn't issue the bounty so they don't care about in and want to avenge their buddy. You can switch off "Report crimes against me" under Functions in your right UI which stops the SAVs backing you up or jumping into the beacon/extraction site to help you and having fewer around will make it less frequent (downside, they won't help you). Just keep an eye on factions and be ready to leave in a hurry at all times. I usually get a few kills at a beacon and then move on before I upset too many factions.

I haven't flown a Cobra since the early betas but the Eagle is extremely agile so the Cobra will feel mach more sluggish but it is a lot sturdier as the Eagle is pretty much made of paper. The lower weapon slots are at a bit of a weird angle so you probably want gimballed weapons in them to help with accuracy.

Happy hunting Commander!

I have the same issue with the authority vessels. Must've been from when I killed a bunch of them in Beta, thinking there would be a reset on launch day... How can I get back on their good side?

I watched Space Balls again yesterday, and if they are the same faction it doesnt matter what their role or status is.... They are all arseholes.

So SAVs are protecting wanted criminals? That doesn't seem right, anyways im turning off the crimes report thing, i haven't needed the help of SAVs to this day and i think they may do more harm than good to me.

Anyways flying something that is not made of cardboard and has a little bit more firepower will be nice when hunting but i will keep my freegle around just in case.
