Auto Dimming Canopy Glass

When traveling from the outer end of a system to the inner, and you have to stare at the star the whole trip, I'd really like an auto dimming canopy glass. My cmdr has sunglasses on but they don't do a thing for that giant bright disk.

I suppose, ya it would actually melt my face off. Maybe a slider added to darken it up some more. I do travel to nav beacons often from the outer part of a system, man so bright, and you can't roll or reorientate the ship when heading essentially straight at it.

It already does that, you know when you are fuel scooping and you can look straight at the star? Well that's because it's dimmed, that giant bright disk would burn your eyes out if it wasn't already dimmed.
No the glass absolutely does not. That's just lore fluff. The OP is talking about hard gameplay mechanics and our glass in game absolutely does not auto-dim. It's just clear glass and the stars are eye-safe in the first place.

The game absolutely used to have not-so-blindingly-bright stars, and not-so-utterly-invisible darkness.

I still don't understand why on earth they opted to change that in Odyssey. I liked being able to see the dark side of planets lit up by the stellar ambiance... and I would too like to not be blinded by stars that make picking out UI elements at a CNB a constant problem.

I did some experimenting last night heading to different stars nav beacons. As varonica stated the canopy glass does actually auto tint, it actually tints the star only, kinda neat. I did notice some stars are way brighter than others and don't appear to be tinting as much or maybe at all. I was kinda loose with my experimenting and cant remember if it was Cennicenino, Xinca, or Deciat, one or two of those stars even from 12kls out is off the hook bright. Beams of light that streak from a small dot in the distance, the cockpit glass is glaring, and my Cmdr has a tan from the neck up, lol. It's beautiful really, but whew it is that bright, and a long way to it, it gets very intense as you apporaoch the beacon.

I'm not complaing about the current system in place, I just had a thought for a suggestion in the forums.
