Auto dock/auto launch question

May I humbly beseech any that might know:
WHY I get fined for any/all things my ship does wrongly while under the total control of the docking/launch computer(s)???!!

I realize sh*t happens:rolleyes:... but I don't usually discover I'm fined til' I'm 200+ Ly's away from where I can conveniently pay them...it's aggravating:mad:!
Is this a bug?
I never bounced off as many things/structures/ships etc. years ago:unsure:......(that is; before docking/landing assists were even available);)!

Does anyone know why this circumstance has not been looked into/fixed... (or even allowed to pass:sneaky:?)

That's my rant:LOL:...and I'm stickin' to it;).

Traffic control are messing with you and having a laugh. They probably get a percentage of the fine and spend it in the bar after shift.

There is always manual control, and sometimes when stuck in a queue or being blocked by a bit of the station or another ship it is the only way out.

Ah yes beer money.

......."manual" control you say huh? It's been a little while, though I have done the "slow" queues thing; it keeps me in practice.

I think the last time I manually docked was during a smuggling mission and I was "silent running":sneaky:

I don't use auto launch, so I wouldn't know how to circumvent that. As for docking, when you arrive at a station just make a beeline manually for the slot (before any NPCs spawn in and arrive there) and engage autopilot once you cleared the slot.

I don't use the launch, but alway's use the dock computer.
Can't recall the last time I picked up a fine while auto docking.....or hitting anything for that matter.
Now my manual launches usually get at least one warning per Session & one fine per ten Sessions played :ROFLMAO:

As far as ships are concerned, the auto-dock/launch can only account for NPC's and player ships also under its control, any ship coming in manually will be ignored by landing/launch assists as if they weren't there, so if a player barges in under manual control while you are auto-lanching and vice versa that's bound to hurt.

@varonica i promise you, i only done that twice, really i would never have a ego trip about the size of his ship compare to mine honest:)

srsly, thou the autodocking/auto launch doesn't work that well in the best of cases. i auto launched a few days back and ended in side the outer ring of the station. a few time i landed on a empty station (no traffic) and the ship just veered up into the station walls.

I use auto launch and auto dock every time in my Type 10.. And i never had a problem..
My Cutter used to be fine, but recent updates means it doesn't correctly approach the Pad, or does so at such a stupid angle that it overshoots & has to reverse back to get centred🤷‍♂️.........DC must be getting distracted with the beautiful views on approach :ROFLMAO:

It was never perfect, there has been some recent issues with rotational correction not working as intended I believe, I haven't landed in a station for a while, but I rarely bump into other players so getting stuck in the slot with a careless pilot on manual doesn't really happen much. Just keep in mind, if you do get stuck, logging out and back in will place you safely outside the station.

Early on in my ED career I used autodock a fair bit. But when I got a bit better I freed up the slot for other, imho more useful things. I no longer have any ship with any docking computer on it. I am regularly coming in hot so I want in the slot asap. It helps in keeping my flying skills sharp. Occasionally I might be coming in so hot I scrape the side/top/bottom of the slot but that's never given me a fine or bounty. I learned my lesson early when the DC got me hung up in the toaster rack while flying the Type 9. Barely escaped in time but I made it back out before getting a fine for blocking the slot. What solidified my abandonment of the DC was when I saw it knarl up a NPC Type 9 right in front of me.

Chuff knows but every time I run my shieldless cutter for tritium runs the auto pilot seems to know and hits everything on the way in and out!!
